1 person voted for Melo. No one knows who just yet.
From the attitude of some people at SportsHoopla, Russel Westbrook is the real MVP.
Too bad Duncan was better than Kobe and Shaq some of those seasons. Lebron deserved the unanimous vote, but Shaq got dicked by one voter, so you can't really complain. An MVP is an MVP.
If I were a voter, I would have given it to Durant. His shooting percentage was a little lower and he had less assists, but their stats were nearly identical otherwise (KD had the big edge in FT percentage). I also think he is more valuable to his team (ie they aren't as good) and doesn't get the benefit of the refs as much.
Plus, the MVP award shouldn't just go to the best player. It gets old really quickly that way, because unlike a lot of sports, the top basketball player remains relatively static. There have really only been five #1s since 1986:
(Jordan= 86-93, 96-98)
(Hakeem and/or Shaq= The two retirement years)
(Shaq= 1998-2003)
(Kobe= 2004-2007)
(Lebron= 2007-Present)
Where's the fun in just giving out the award to the same guy every year?
Duncan's best years went up against Shaq's best. His prime as actually better than Kobe's, but by the time Kobe reached #1, Duncan was already passed his prime. And Duncan at his best was never that close to prime Shaq.
I like Duncan a lot, but I think time has shown that Popovich has had a lot more to do with the Spurs success than he ever did. If you need proof, the second most wins the Spurs had under Popovich was the year Duncan averaged 13.5 PPG and was completely ineffective.
1.) He wasn't ineffective at all.
2.) They didn't even win a championship that season.
3.) 2002-2003 was Duncan's best season ever. Neither Shaq nor Kobe has ever had a season as good as his. He single handedly brought his team the title without a legit #2 or all star #2.

if you watched the ceremony, they said it was a NY writer when asking James how he felt about it.
if you didn't watch it live, make sure you watch a replay somewhere.
James gave an unscripted speech from his heart following a surprise video they showed him that featured his friends, family, and teammates.
Anyone who watches and listens to that and then wants to continue on with how self centered and arrogant James is, please report back here after you do and tell me how/why.
Well MVP does mean most value to his team not best player
