Leafs to be American Owned

Rumo(u)rs that an American investment firm is looking to buy out the Teacher's Pension Fund portion of MLSE, which would give the investment firm controlling stake of the team.

I'm assuming the league would be none-too-happy about having the Leafs be non-Canadian owned, but given that it would be MLSE getting sold and not technically the Leafs, they wouldn't have any say in it, right?

I remember a few years back I was on a road trip from Niagara around to Kingston, and every night they had at least ten minutes of every newscast devoted to the sinful idea that Coors was buying Molson. I was thoroughly amused by the coverage.

They were that concerned about an American company buying crappy beer? What will they do if Americans buy the Leafs?

I like that I can buy Canadian Maple Syrup in Washington State for $5 a bottle, but the same syrup in a slightly smaller bottle is available for $15 at my grocery store in BC.
