On 6/13 the Kings won the Cup. Congratulations to them.

On 6/22 the NHL released its 2014-15 schedule.

On 6/27 and 6/28, the league held its entry draft.

On 7/1, free agency began with many players changing work address and some staying put for at least the next season.

Let's face it, the Leafs haven't won the Cup in 47 years and nothing we've seen since the Buttplug (aka the Poison Dwarf, aka the Cul-de-Jatte) handed the Cup to Dustin Brown will alter that streak.

The question then becomes, when will To***to's 2014-15 season end? Some of the new posters will recognize the pattern from past years. We just seem to get started earlier and earlier, like the Leafs' vacation.

To play, please submit the date you believe the Leafs will officially and mathematically get eliminated from Cup contention. To help you out, you can find their entire schedule here. If your crystal ball tells you the Leafs will make the playoffs, you can take a shot at when their post-season will end as well. No prize money, only the satisfaction of besting a bunch of other hockey minds while poking fun at the center of the universe.

As a side pool, you can also submit a date for the firing of Randy Carlyle if you think he will not return for the 2015-16 season. You can skip this part or just tell us if you believe he will in fact coach the Leafs again in 14 months for now.

To get things started, I'll pick...

Elimination: April 4, Carlyle fired March 22.

And I'll post an update list of picks on a regular basis.

Thank you for playing.

Nice to see you Stranger and thanks for putting this up. I'm going with April 1st as it is April Leafs Day after all. Randy goes March 24th after the Leafs get spanked by the Wild.

Strange year this one - I think the Lightning, Panthers, Jackets, Flyers and Jackets all improve next season, while the Bruins, Pens, and Rangers regress. Unsure about Detroit, I don't think Ottawa, Carolina or NJ are going to be very different from where they are now, and while Montreal are going to look different I don't see them moving much either.

All in all, I don't see a Leaf playoff round this year. I think with the inevitable injuries and the push to get Gardiner and Rielly more ice time, and the fact Celine will still be out there for nearly half the game, no to mention Randy still calling the shots, Bernier is going to see almost as many shots as he did last season.

Elimination date: April 4

Randy gets fired during the January swoon; January 20, after they top off their 0-4 Western swing with a home loss to the Canes. Steve Spott gets promoted to his position.

Be a sport and go down to the ACC and see if you can get ARGOS' forwarding address in Denmark.

Put me down for April 5 after Ottawa ends the Leafs playoff chances. Carlyle stays on because why fix what isn't broken?

Where are all the outraged To***to fans that think George Armstrong is Lance's brother?
