Perhaps the effects of being the worst coached team in the league are cumulative, causing a drastic reduction in victories. Schwartzy could be the first coach to go from 0-playoffs-0.
Kreton -- I don't care if it was exactly the same team player for player as in the year's prior. A team doesn't get better and go from 10-6 to 4-12. It just doesn't happen.
Players get older. Some players regress. Bounces don't go your way that did in year's past. Teams had a chance to see your offense and know all they have to do is drop the safeties 20 yards off the line of scrimmage to limit them. Injuries happen to every team, but injuries didn't cost the Lions 6 games in the standings.
There is a difference between having a bad or worse team, and having a bad year.
If the team over performed, which we did, then yes. It definitely does/can.
Here's to hoping '12 was an aberration.
