Perhaps the effects of being the worst coached team in the league are cumulative, causing a drastic reduction in victories. Schwartzy could be the first coach to go from 0-playoffs-0.

Kreton -- I don't care if it was exactly the same team player for player as in the year's prior. A team doesn't get better and go from 10-6 to 4-12. It just doesn't happen.

Players get older. Some players regress. Bounces don't go your way that did in year's past. Teams had a chance to see your offense and know all they have to do is drop the safeties 20 yards off the line of scrimmage to limit them. Injuries happen to every team, but injuries didn't cost the Lions 6 games in the standings.

There is a difference between having a bad or worse team, and having a bad year.

once again -- having a "bad year" doesn't result in the team going from 10 wins to 4 wins. it also doesn't make a team go 0-6 in conference games.

If the team over performed, which we did, then yes. It definitely does/can.

It's basically an 8-8 team. Got some good breaks in '11, and some tough breaks in '12. Also, Stafford was clearly better in '11 than he was in '12. Here's to hoping '12 was an aberration.

Ok, maybe a 7-9/8-8 team.

Hi Kreton. I am Gandydancer. Not to be confused with The Gandy Dancer from CBS. Was not sure if there are two rail road guys here to confuse you...

once again -- you can twist it however you'd like and say they overperformed in 2011 and underperformed in 2012. you can say they were lucky in 2011 and not in 2012. you can make any excuse you'd like, but in no way, shape or form was the 2012 team better than the 2011 team. a 6 game swing in the standings with an 0-6 record in the conference should tell you as much.

AMEN -- that was one of the toughest season to watch for me in a LOOOOONG time. the 0-16 season was easier to watch, because I didn't expect much out of them. Last year though -- they were supposed to compete and they just didn't.

2013 is a fresh year though. Detroit has alot of pieces in place. Will be interesting to see how all the different moves made by the front office will work out.
