Tough break, but even if they could review it, I doubt it would have changed. Most likely it would have been a "Stands as called" since, even in slow motion, it's still pretty tough to gauge if he hooked his finger around the bar on Rodger's face-mask.

Still, they have a chance to win the game, go make a play. The penalty hurt, but that one lone call is not why the Lions lost that game.

I still can't tell if he's got his thumb in there or not. I think he does based on the still picture, but in the gif it doesn't really look like it.

at game speed, yes...but...thats the problem.

it should be reviewable in these situations...late and close.

and the old rule was better IMO.

I agree.. Sadly they did away with the 5 yard penalty and I highly doubt they will make review able.

THIS. The first time I looked at the gif it looked like a finger hooked one of the bars on the helmet.

On second review. No

and that's what we as spectators can do. we can over analyze anything and everything and we have the ability to slow EVERY play down... The NFL Can't.

Like I said in another thread, rugby reviews everything on video. But it doesn't come from the coaches, it's the officials who call the shot.

In the NFL it should still be the coaches call but everything should be reviewable.

And I thought the call last night was good as it stood.

The 5 yard facemask didn't turn into a 15 yard facemask, it ceased to be a penalty at all. You can touch an opponents facemask and not get penalized, whereas before that would have been a 5 yard penalty. Getting rid of the incidental facemask penalty was a good move.

So, you wish they still had the incidental facemask penalty?

I was saying, if ANYTHING they could have called in a 5 yard penalty but since the rule is GONE they had to call it 15. Game speed it looked like a penalty (by the rule book) and I agreed with the call.

I just finished up the WC of Rugby. Watched every match.

They even go back in time and void play (if not time passed) if something was missed on the field. And the whole stadium gets to watch the plays as they do it on the big screen and in the booth.

Rugby refs are the boss. And there's only 3 of them (4 including the guy in the booth).

I blame my Mom for calling me during the game.

It was 17-0 when she called. Hung up just in time to see the last shit

Do any of you remember the game where the Packers were down by one score and on the last play of the game Aaron Rogers (who was on fire that game) threw a pass but there was a no-call on a facemask by a blitzing back? After the game Aaron didn't blame anybody and said the no-call was just a part of the game. Classy guy.
