Again, expect the NHL to continue to grow it's US viewership next year. And also my guess is these finals will be the highest rated/most watched finals in NHL history.

well simply by comparing the popularity of both sports within the States, yes, somewhat. Obviously hockey fans already knew this.

Never understood how the NBA is more popular then the NHL.

Compare.

Monsters dunking a ball into a hoop
Monsters on 1/8 in of steel stick handling though defenders and roofing one on a goal tender

Thugs acting tough
Players make the challenge, drop the gloves and settle it

Hard foul
Guys destroying each other with CLEAN HITS

Guy gets a strain in his wrist and sits out 2 weeks.
Stamkos took a puck to the face, broke his nose and cut it wide open and was back on the ice in like 4 mins.

No comparison at all to me.

bottom line is the NBA is more popular within the States than hockey.

BUT NHL doing a great job of getting more exposure of the sport out there with their new TV deals. NBC sports is helping in a BIG way.

that is the reason really, NBA has just had more exposure over decades, NHL just recently getting on TV more and more each season is allowing it to become more popular, keep doing this and the sport will be huge here. Especially after games like last night.

Disney only talks about the sports they own the rights too. Since they have the most channels & are available 24/7 it's insane. It's one of the reasons so many people don't like Lebron James. We're sick & tired of hearing & reading about him.

The NBA is in trouble on one front & that's talent level. This will be the 3rd straight bad draft for the NBA. Some say these things go in cycles. I don't buy it. The one & done rule is biting the NBA in the ass. The talent coming from overseas & South America isn't as good as it once was either.

The NHL has a new superstar coming into the league almost every year. We already know the 2015 draft has a generational talent in Connor McDavid. The NHL is growing in a big way & will only get better if Bettman & CO. leave the game alone.

The NBA loss me after the Bulls/Nets game 6 with obvious bad calls to foul out two Bulls on a team already missing 3 starters and a key bench player.

So true as I feel I'm not the only one that is giving up on this sport.

Have both Spurs wins on the DVR, and will watch it if the Spurs win two more to nix Stern's WWE pick to win it all so that there will be a increase in the big three cry merchandise. By bandwagon fans that root for stars instead of a team.

It sure gets better when he daringly picks up his rosin bag. All this work has this 320 pound 67% body fat index specimen sweaty. He takes of his vaseline drenched cap to mop his brow. My pulse is racing by now!!!

All of the pitcher's posturing is timely because the jumped-up baboon at the plate now has time dig his barely opposable thumbs into his jock in order to adjust the shrunken raisins that once could be called testicles.

Finally the pitch!!! Foul ball and the ball lands in the beer of some fan who has justifiably fallen asleep.

Rinse, repeat and continue for 4 hours.

2 reasons why the NBA is more popular:

1) Hockey is exclusive to cold weather climate and people with $. If I want to play a pick-up basketball game, all I have to do is grab my shoes and head to the local park. If I want to play hockey, well that is pretty difficult to find here in Virginia.

2) The NHL does not lend itself to TV as easily as the NBA. It can be difficult to follow the action at times.
