management asked for him to tone it down a bit with his kid in the clubhouse. Apparently he was there every day last year. What a jackass

Very happy day for sox fans
Seriously... what job can someone have where they can take their kid to work every single day? That's just ridiculous. What about the part where the kid should be socializing with other kids his age?

Some people think it's fine to do that (Although not every day) and it never fails to annoy me. I've had to pull employees aside and tell them not to do it and a couple actually went to H.R. who then told them the same thing. As if you can concentrate on your job with a kid to look after. Some think it's ok to bring their fucking dogs.

I could see having your kid around at Comisky for a few home stands throughout the year, mainly during the summer... ...but he was bringing him on the road too???

Weird.

WTF, LaRoche??
What about the kid's schooling and education etc??

Props to the Chisox for nixing that nonsense.

Kind of a bitch move for him to react that way too...imho

Seems like the Sox are the big winners in this transaction. They are off the hook for his, what(?), 13M?

Why would the Whitesox players consider boycotting the game? That's stupid

I agree, if I had a child I wouldn't be able to bring him to work every day, why should Laroche?

I never liked LaRoche.

Retired and turned down $13M because he couldn't have his way.

He'll be perfect for the Giants.

I read an article (forget if it was Olney or Stark etc.) that said the Red Sox have a family area for the kids. They could stay around during pre-game until it was time for real BP.

They also provided games and tutoring for the kids in that family center.

A good move IMO.

This story gets better and better. Think I'm moving to the LaRoche side if this is true:

CSN Chicago’s David Kaplan reports a number of elements on the decision, including the fact that allowing Drake to be in the clubhouse every day was actually a requirement for LaRoche to even sign with the Sox in the first place (Twitter link). According to Kaplan (link), LaRoche would not have signed with Chicago had he not been promised full access for his son, and both Ventura and GM Rick Hahn agreed to the situation before LaRoche was signed (link).

Than it seems he should file a grievance, not retire.

Is Drake "special"? Why isnt he is school?
