This barely qualifies as news. Its been an inevitable event just waiting on the day to come around. Finally USC can find a good coach and begin to heal, its more fun when USC is the USC of old.

And just like that, USC becomes interesting again.

Wow! This comes as a complete surprise! I thought for sure he would finally succeed! Add one cup of sarcasm and bake at 350 for 20 minutes...

Not sure this is a good thing, in terms of the timing. I've never really seen good outcomes from firing a coach mid season. You get rid of a bad coach, but you also send a message to all potential HCs that this is what awaits them as well.

I was expecting this to greet me when I woke up. Yesterday was beyond embarrassing. It's one think to lose, but when you look that bad, it scares off recruit and potential coaching targets. Coaches rarely deserve to be fired mid-season, but Kiffin is the exception.

They're doing it for recruiting purposes. They were basically holding themselves captive with him because recruits had no interest in playing for him.

Really? I had no idea he had trouble recruiting. He WAS the biggest fraud in coaching, but I don't think firing him right now is going to help on the recruiting front. It gives an air of instability, and players have no idea who they will be playing for.

Either way, a lot of big name coaches are about to get some big checks to stick around.

I watched the 4th quarter of that game last night and I thought to myself "I bet that dude is packing up his shit tomorrow."

I almost felt sorry for him, then I remembered his money and hot wife.

That's what REALLY telling about this.

There was no "anonymous sources" inside the AD that leaked this......there were no obscure phone calls and meetings and such. The USC AD WANTED US TO KNOW HE WAS FIRED

That's how you give someone the boot

That was 2010:
Kiffin is that guy. His jilting of Tennessee and all the players he and his Orange Pride hostesses sweet-talked into becoming Volunteers is distasteful. The school gave him a big break, and he broke athletic director Mike Hamilton's ankles sprinting out of town in just over a year. Once again, loyalty is for suckers in the realm of college coaching.

What goes around comes around.
