They are not mentally tough down the stretch. The Lakers continue to wilt in the face of pressure and I am sure B. Scott will continue to change their heads in practice.
Fun game. I'd say Byron's attempt to teach them a "winning mindset" is definitely beginning to show. Aside from the fact that they have played hard all season (the first step), their last 9 losses have all been by single digits. That means winnable games.
The next step is learning how to close games and getting a top FA or 2 to help with that. As much as I hate them having season ending injuries, Kobe and Randle being out is likely a blessing in disguise re: the lottery. If they are playing in some of the closer games, they probably make just enough difference to knock the Lakers out of the bottom 5 and lose that pick to the Suns, yet not enough to get them to the playoffs.
