28 year old Shooting Guard played for Toronto, averaged 15 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists per game in 25 minutes. His field goal percentage is weak, but a good perimeter shooter and a nice 3 point stroke. For me he is very weak on his rebounds, assists and most likely on defense since he is weak on rebounds, but the price is 21 million for three years. This is a nice fill in player decent enough to attract elite players next year. I like this signing. With Williams and Hibbert in the center, the Lakers should improve and be able to mentor the rookies

Looks like the Lakers are also going to sign Brandon Bass and work on a sign and trade deal to get Jeremy Lin to the Mavericks so something in return

I think the best scenario would be to get a draft pick or two from Dallas for Lin

Looking like having a solid team. No superstars, but good players.

Nice mix of youth and veterans. This is turning out better than it looked like it would!

I never thought the LAKERS had a bad offseason prior to these latest moves.
It wasnt like they were the (F-) laughingstocks everyone tried to paint.

They actually ended up okay despite the impossible task of attracting good players to a horrible team.
They get a solid (C+) for not overpaying any 2nd tier guys WHILE grabbing some relatively affordable pieces.

They will be a little better and likely in decent shape for the next cycle.

At the end of last season, it was fairly evident that 7-8 players on that roster would not be back. Davis is gone, Boozer may be gone, if they trade Hill and Swaggy to either the Bulls or the Mavericks, and one player goes to Indiana in the HIbbert deal, then that prediction was pretty close to being correct. I like the new additions and the changes to come. The Lakers are looking better already.

That's how you start in my opinion. You don't get super-stars without good players to begin with. The good players is the magnet that will draw them

The Lakers didn't pick up the option on Jordan Hill, but after the signing is done, they might or might not do that. They are shopping the moron, err I mean Swaggy - they want to dump his salary

I ain't seeing Swaggy p. sticking around...ESPECIALLY when all these young guys have a shot to develop into something decent...

Some better news this week to start - Last week was looking bleak, but I wasn't expecting the Lakers to get players like Aldridge or Jordan. They simply weren't ready for that kind of a jump. Next year I think they will be ready

He's like Heatmyshorts - who you'd like to pull his pants down and trip him so that he falls face down into a big ugly mud puddle with dog doo in it

The Lakers have the rights to a number of players whether they are under contract or not TLF. Swaggy, Lin, Hill, Price to name a few. The Lakers are trying to move and accommodate other teams for Lin and Swaggy and Hill have also been mentioned in trades however that works out for the Lakers and the other teams.

I have always said it would take some time. I never thought it would happen overnight, but so far at the beginning of year two of Short Buss' rebuilding - it's looking like he will get to keep his job

I expect Swaggy, Lin, Hill, and potentially Kelly and Sacre to be in play over the next week. Our roster will look quite different than last year that is for sure.

truth to tell i'm actually liking the gradual rebuild anyways. means we're gonna have something solid for years to come when it's all said and done...which SHOULD be the objective anyways...

unfortunately imo we were NEVER gonna find a true fit for Kelly anyways. and Hill and Lin deserve a shot to play for some contenders though I DID like Hill's effort game in and game out...

So far this is the team I see:

Clarkson - PG 11 ppg 3 rpg 3 apg
Kobe Bryant - SG 20 ppg 5 rpg 3 apg
Brandon Bass - PF 10 ppg 5 rpg 1 apg
Hibbert C 10 ppg 7 rpg 1 apg
Wesley Johnson? SF 9 ppg 4.2 rpg 1.6 apg

For the reserves

Lou Williams - SG 15 ppg 1.9 rpg 2 apg
D'angelo Russell - PG ????
Randle PF ?????

Not sure if Hill comes back but I think the Lakers will try to bring him back - that would be your center, but you got Tarik Black or Sacre in the worst case scenario, Wesley Johnson for your SF position to start in the worst case, so they obviously need a little more improvement, if they can get it, but this team could possibly over-achieve and make it into the playoffs.

That's the way I felt, but every time I suggested that it would take the Lakers 3 to 5 years to rebuild - I had a lot of SMH in my faces, but In my mind the Lakers had failed to keep upgrading with youth over each year like San Antonio has done.
