Report: Lakers, Ed Davis agree to two-year deal - CBSSports.com

Yes, we signed Ed Davis.

Seriously, Who? Oh, and we still don't have a coach. :L

This is actually a solid signing. He's 6'10" 225 and he's only 25 years old, so he's got some pretty good upside. Plus, it's a cap friendly deal.

His numbers per 36 project out to him being a double/double guy. He's also said to be a solid rim protector, so it should help cut back on the layup lines that we saw last year. Basically it's a potential low risk/high reward.

Seriously man, every move the Lakers make isn't a bad one.

I know you miss your avi (so do I) but don't take it out on the Lakers.

I like the Ed Davis signing TJF12. Good value for the money and he like Lin may see a renewal of his career in LA. I sense that we are again assembling a pretty good team. I hope there is room for Ryan Kelly and Xavier Henry.

I agree. They're not going to contend for a title and unless Kobe has a hot tub time machine or bought himself bionic legs, it's doubtful they will even make the playoffs.

However, they are shaping up to be a team that should be fun to watch, will be competitive in most games and will probably settle in with anywhere from 38-42 wins.

I think they'll be a little rough around the edges and may take some time to gel. But I think they will ultimately tease us a little about making a 7-8 seed before ultimately falling short.

There should be room enough for Kelly and Henry. They are only paying Davis $1 mil per year, which actually still leaves them room to make a solid bid on Boozer if they want to grab a vet to help mentor the young bigs like Randle, Davis and Hill.

Yep, I forgot about Boozer. If we should happen to secure his services, I think we are pretty darn good team that may achieve 40 wins this year. Operative word "may".

Yeah, I agree with "may". They will need some luck, they will definitely need Kobe to stay healthy and they will need to some of the young guys like to step up and make solid contributions.

I'm starting to get a little excited to see what they can do. Not so much for what they can accomplish this season, but for who may be able to stick around and be part of better teams in the future.

And it looks like Boozer is a done deal.

I love the offseason signings. Melo and LeBron were a pipe dream. Sign solid young players with upside to short-term deals to keep the cap clear for the next 2 years.

The rebuild will be much quicker than most expect. People just need to calm down.

Well now that Boozer is on board our defense should be pretty good at least in the paint.

Man, we could of had Lance Stephenson for 9 mil a year and just let Jordan Hill walk if this was the plan

Way too many power guys in Booze, Randle, Hill & Davis. Mitch has something planned.

Maybe Mitch figured since it doesn't look like LA is going to get a football team anytime soon he'll build his own
