Let's not forgot MSL is a milti-time winner of this award. Guy simply doesn't want to play in Tampa anymore and now he's a bad guy. The hate from all you guys is unreal. I wish a Flyer did this, I wouldn't shut the fuck up about it

But then again, that team is full of a bunch of scumbags, so they wouldn't be up for this type of award. ;)

Well, there's an honest statement.

And here's another one, if Marty only wanted to go to Philly, you also wouldn't shut up about it.

If Marty wins it then there's something wrong with the award. He was the captain of a competitive team...and honestly, he may have sunk them. Their issues are far deeper than losing a guy like him of course, but you can't tell me that didn't affect the room a bit (effect?). The media blows things out of proportion, but he demanded a trade from a team he was the captain of and the team he spent basically his entire career with (sorry Dash), and the team that gave him his big break in the NHL. 13 seasons, good and bad ones, and it seems as though he bailed on a good one for an awfully silly reason. Keep in mind, Marty was one of my favorite non-Penguins ever...and I lost a great deal of respect for him in this instance.

Come on Johnny, taking jabs at players is what we do on this board and no team or player is immune from criticism.

I'm not saying he's going to win the award, but one little incident and now the guy is some piece of shit? Give me a break.

A little dramatic, maybe? Is anybody calling MSL a piece of shit? Pretty sure it's valid to say that MSL could have handled things quite differently in Tampa and at the end of the day, he got what he desired.

And I understand that, it's just annoying when it's the same people over and over again who do it. I've just notivced with this board, that when it involves the Rangers, it's always blown up more and the jabs towards my team constantly come.

But, I guess St Louis wanting to be closer to his home and family during the season and off-season makes him a bad guy :noidea:

No, what makes him a bad guy was being a whiny bitch and publicly stating he'd only go to one team.

So not only did he abandon his team mid-season, but he also prevented his GM from getting the best possible return for him by making it clear he'd only go to NYR.

I think Penguins fans would disagree with you, Johnny. Also, the Flyers and members of their team get a fair bit of abuse heaped their way as well.

Hey, others do it, so why shouldn't I? :suds:

And you don't know that I would do that at all, but once again, this is a Rangers problem, thus the hate, as usual with this place.

Maybe Stevie Y should have had him on the original Canada roster. Yzerman is at fault here as well. Let me guess, Nash is a bad guy and a baby as well for only wanting to be traded here as well, right?

You just implied that if it was a Flyers player who did it, you wouldn't shut up about it, and it would have involved a Flyers player, so, um, yeah

The only reason you're supporting Marty St. Louis is because he's a Ranger, you could care less about it if he wasn't with the Rangers, which makes your whole argument even worse - just because he plays on your favorite team doesn't mean you need to act like everyone is against the team - nobody was talking about the team, they were talking about the player

If he did this on another team you wouldn't be backing him up like this, it's sad

We give way more shit to the Leafs, Oilers, and Stars (to name a few only). Not to mention any team that Matt Cooke is playing for.

Steve Yzerman isn't at fault for anything, he won a gold medal so obviously he made the right decision

And Steve Yzerman actually got a really nice haul - Ryan Callahan will be a strong player for them if they re-sign him and those two first rounders are nice as well - that was well worth the deal

The only thing damaging in this trade was MSL's reputation and how he made himself look bad throughout the entire process - Steve Yzerman is glad he doesn't have to deal with that anymore, it was a no-brainer for him to make that trade considering what they got back in return

Yes. The world is against the Rangers. Yes. This message board is particularly against them!!

lol - To be fair, the Leafs, Oilers, and Stars bring it on themselves. Matt Cooke is synonymous with piece of shit (to borrow Johnny's phrase).

You're right, just because of my hate for your team, I would. As you consistently do against my team on a daily basis.

And you know this how? I've always liked and respected St Louis as a player and I can't fault the guy for wanting to play closer to home and with one of his best friends. I'm sure he's not the first player to request a trade and he sure as hell wont be the last.

And please, with your last paragraph, keep putting words in my mouth, Marcus, I forgot you know all and my feelings.

You seem to have a bigger problem when it comes to me hating your team than I do with you hating my team - I don't think you see me posting stuff about "There are conspiracies against the Flyers!" or "The whole world is against the Flyers!"

Of course it's easy for you to say that you can't fault him for wanting to play closer to home when that home would be the New York Rangers - it's extremely convenient

Really? I've seen plenty of your ''refs against us'' posts on here and crying about how they cost you a game....

And once again, is it my fault he lives in Connecticut which is a short 45 minute drive from NY? Explain how that's on me. Please enlighten me

The Nash comparison is only similar in that both ended up with the Rangers. First of all: Columbus was not in a good place at that time. It was pre-Jarmo. Also, the team wanted to move him to get a big return. I don't recall Nash saying "NY or bust" either. I'm pretty sure he really wanted to stay, but was happy where he ended up.
