Of course you would pick him apart. It's actually getting really fucking annoying now.

I guess you forgot all the crying Ryan O'Reilly did before he got his contract.

MSL handled it like a man, it was the media that blew it out of proportion.

Let's not forgot MSL is a milti-time winner of this award. Guy simply doesn't want to play in Tampa anymore and now he's a bad guy. The hate from all you guys is unreal. I wish a Flyer did this, I wouldn't shut the fuck up about it

MSL had a contract to play with Tampa. He bailed on his teammates in the middle of a season. I've always been a big fan of Marty's but he acted like a bitch. Being sportsmanlike also involves loyalty to your own teammates. He didn't exhibit that; he doesn't deserve this award.

O'Reilly, at that point, had made no commitment to the Avalanche. Players can cry all they want about dollars and cents, contract terms and role on the team when they are free agents. You can call that crying but in a professional setting it's called negotiating. I've done it more than once before signing a contract. In fact I think you NEED to do that before signing a contract. If not you're setting yourself up to be disappointed and unhappy. Once you sign that contract you're committed and in real life (obvisously not the NHL) whining your way out of it is a VERY expensive option, at best.

A little dramatic, maybe? Is anybody calling MSL a piece of shit? Pretty sure it's valid to say that MSL could have handled things quite differently in Tampa and at the end of the day, he got what he desired.
