Just took a look at the Clippers Roster Del ***** had who was defeated in round 1 to Memphis. You can make a case that it is better than this Clippers roster or their roster from last year.

He had Billups, Butler, Odom, Matt Barnes, Crawford, and Eric Bledsoe as his supporting cast. IMO that is better than the current supporting cast they have with this group.

What I would say is the 2011-2012 roster who were swept by the Spurs was pretty shitty but yeah that 2012-2013 roster was more than good enough to get out of round 1.

How much more success has Doc had then Del *****'s two years that he had CP3?

Well in 2 of his first 3 years, Doc put them in position to make the WCF. As a team without HCA, all you can ask for is a chance to end the series in front of your home fans in game 6. The Clippers had that chance 2x under Doc. Zero under Del *****. At the end of the day you can't blame the coach for every single thing. The players should get some blame as well. They were up 3-2 with game 6 at home on 2 different occasions. They failed both times. Sorry you can't tell me it's all on Doc. Players especially their starts deserve a lot of blame

Actually my error they only had game 6 at home to clinch once but in the OKC series, remember that crazy game 5 when they were up double digits late in the 4th and allowed OKC to come back and win? That's on the players. Chris Paul especially made some stupid decisions.

You only fire him if there is someone out there you believe better suited to lead this team. Doc is a good coach, perhaps not a good GM.

I definitely don't believe in firing a coach unless you:

a. know who you want to replace him and believe that guy is better

and

b. believe you have a reasonable chance to actually get him.

If nothing else, Doc needs to be relieved of his GM duties.

That I can agree with. Coaches as GM's doesn't seem to be a great idea

Same old Clippers in the playoffs. Not enough scoring from the other players. CP and Blake did their job. They need more than 15 points combined from Redick and Crawford. Not good enough

Yeah but Blake was worthless in the 4th.

Putting yourself in position as opposed to capitalizing are what separates winners from losers; winning organizations from "we did good enough" organizations.

There's no room for this Clippers roster to grown, outside of trading one of their core pieces as @tlance mentioned. This is a roster that Doc put together whereas Del ***** wasn't afforded that opportunity.

Point was the players deserve some blame. Bad coaches don't lead their teams to a 3-2 edge without HCA. Sorry I'm not going to place all or even most of the blame on the coach when they were up 3-2 and had a 13 point lead entering the 4th quarter. I get you hate Doc but acting like the players especially Paul and Blake doesn't deserve a good portion of the blame is hilarious.

Anytime you're in an series clinching situation and you have a decent 4th quarter lead and you lose that game. The star players should get most of the blame. Just like we all blamed Russ and KD for not sealing the deal in game 6 vs the Warriors last year. This should be no different. Paul and Griffin did not do enough to seal the deal vs Houston 2 years ago. Simple as that.

I don't hate Doc. At one point I thought he was the best coach in the league sans Pop. I now have a 4 year sample size of what it's like when he's the coach/GM - and the results aren't that much better for Del *****.

There's no doubt that much of the blame falls on the players. However, some coaches are only good enough to get a team to a certain point.

Under Del Harris, the Shaq/Kobe Lakers were only good enough to make the WCF once. Under Phil, they won 3 championships.

Under Mark Jackson, the Warriors were only good enough to get to the 2nd round. Under Steve Kerr, they have made 2 straight finals and won one of them (so far).

It's not necessarily that Del Harris or Mark Jackson were bad coaches. It's that they weren't good enough to get their team to the next level of success. The same may be true for Doc.
