Lotta pressure on the kid. His union and Agent did him no favors raising a big stink about the service time thing. Putting an even bigger target on his back. No matter what he does tonight he will be the sports center lead. There are alot of eye balls on a kid making his debut.

He's thrown right into the cleanup spot..... maybe he will be awesome, but ive seen a million can't miss prospects fall on their face when facing major league pitching.

I don't think one game in the majors should decide his fate in the league

Mark Reynolds?

Madden has been comparing him to Troy Glaus. Not a sexy name but he had a pretty damn good career

When teams send prospects down, it's for more than ten games. They usually start calling up the kids in June.

Also, people need to remember that for every Mike Trout that hits the ground running like a mother fucker in MLB, there are hundreds of Matt Weiterses, Alex Gordons, Bryce Harpers, Mike Moustakases, Jason Haywards and the like that were touted every bit as highly as Bryant and only demonstrated a fraction of the performance that everyone "knew" they would.

Mike Trout didn't hit the ground running, he sucked after getting called up, it was the following year and after I traded him for Sal Perez, lol

Great point. You're right. Kershaw is another great player who was no better than average his rookie year.

I suppose what I meant is there are a shitload of past "can't miss" prospects that miss.

The Media always hypes up prospects and then s surprised when they struggle for their first year. It takes some layers quite awhile to get accustomed to the Major League Level, not all of them can be ROY.

Only an elite handful adjust quickly and rake.

This whole thing is complete nonsense. Sending Bryant to AAA for 10 games (or so) isn't going to have any impact on whether the cubs make the playoffs or not. What it will do is save the cubs 25-35 mil or keep Bryant a cub for an extra year. What owner would throw that away? If Boras owned the cubs we all know damn well he would be sending Bryant down. Boras is only whining because its less money for him. This entire topic is about $$ and only $$. Boras wants to make more $$, so if Bryant made the team he would get an extra years worth of commission. That is the only damn reason hes talking about it. The Cubs want to save money some significant $$. 10 games to save millions...r u kidding me, its a no-brainer.

Those who say sending a player down for 10 games is sacrificing whats best for the team are asinine. What best for the team is to be able to control your best players for as long as possible without sacrificing whats good for your team for the long run. Does anyone honestly think spending 20-30 for a player to play 10 games is whats best for the team? That's what is boils down to.

Yeah, of course its possible Bryant doesn't turn out to be the superstar many think he will be, but that's entirely beside the point..

I totally agree with all that your saying..........

and now that he has been called up,cmoooon Kris!

He was too over-hyped due to his spring in which he raked against mainly minor league arms. The kid can hit & one game doesn't mean much in the greater scheme. But he is facing MLB arms now & will likely struggle at times to adapt during his rookie season, most guys do.
