The Knicks acquire D rose!

Y
Dennis Smith Jr. asked to sent to the D-league to get playing time. Ends up traded to the Pistons which is pretty much what he requested.

There are actually a lot of coaches who have been fired after doing a good job.

Coaches are fired for many reasons.

And my point all along is that you can’t always tell how the coach is doing when the roster is so flawed.

Yep, sometimes coaches get fired for not doing a good enough job.

Del Harris with the Lakers comes to mind. Same with Mark Jackson and the Warriors. Both did a good job by any measure, but it wasn't good enough based on team expectations.

I would only wish the best for a player, but , smith, showed up this season nowhere near game shape. He’s dam lucky to have gotten traded!

Lots of coachs are terminated simply because they just could not get to next level.

the Knicks don’t hold on to a coach long enough to truly give a fair evaluation.

but they all did suck!

Except van gooly! He had the best leg grab hold in history of NBA coaches

Thibs has done a decent enough job to this point all things considered and given what he has to work with.
That said...I thought he erred today by sticking with RJ & Mitch too long...both of whom clearly didn't have it in the 2nd game of a b2b.
I was hoping to see Frankie & Noel getting some of those minutes. Oh well. I'm sure he had his reasons.
This was another very winnable game they let get away.

Next game is in Miami on Tuesday.

Maybe D-Rose will be available by then??

He's a really good coach. But, like all coaches, he has a blind spot. His is that he tends to ride his starters too much. It's why his teams have always run out of gas in the playoffs. He had a couple of Bulls teams that I thought could have gone to the finals if he hadn't run them into the ground.

Van Gundy is arguable. He had some pretty stacked teams that had a legit chance at winning it all. But Jordan and Hakeem.
STill not a huge fan of either Van Gundy; I think the Alanzo mop was the best either of them did.

Del Harris is prime example of that. Was able to get the Kobe/Shaq Lakers to the Western Conference finals, but that was it. So, they fire him, bring in Phil and get a three-peat.

It is all relative.

Scott Brooks is a prime example. I think he was part of why OKC never won a title, but he gets coach of the year awards because they had a good win/loss record.

Some teams have too much talent to lose, but the coach doesn’t really add value. Some don’t have enough talent to win no matter what they do.

The Knicks are at a point where they don’t have the roster to truly be competitive long term, but some of the young guys have learned the league a bit and they are good enough to win on any given night.

Mark Jackson also rubbed many folks the wrong way

It’s my understanding, the Knicks now plan to ship Rivers to a contender, for what?

not saying the Knicks were going PS, clearly, they have to build , but on what?

if there was some kind of award given out for the dumbest org. the Knicks would be a dynasty!

You think the Knicks should build on Rivers? A 28 year old backup (at best) point guard, who is currently 4th on their depth chart. There is no point in not trading him for anything a team is willing to give up. Weren't you the one saying Quickly needs to get more PT?

If you were a Knick fan, you would know exactly where I’m coming from.

this org. Regardless of its rosters.
Is a win it now mentality .

For its fans, delusional thoughts it creates!

No, only you and Dolan. I think after years of sucking for sooooooooooooo long the majority of fans realize they need to rebuild from the ground up. There is not one piece that you could grab that would be win now; even LeBron and Durant need help high quality teammates. Not sure where you think Rivers factors into any semblance of either winning now or a rebuild. Just getting a second round pick to take a flyer on would be a plus; heck even just cash would be a plus.

What a surprise, tune into Knicks Miami , Knicks in hole by 10....

logic, no, it ain’t just me and Dolan , ny fans know what I’m talking about. And when we see any kind of hope , rivers who has games where he can’t miss, Burks same , Randle same etc, we get excited for a chance of post season play. Then you hear they, like every year , going to give a piece of the puzzle to someone else , someone else that never pans out.

How is that delusional?

2 players go for a loose ball, a ball knocked cleanly out of the hand of a Miami player, 2 players diving effort for the pill, and it’s the Knick player called for a pushing foul.

NBA refs, aren’t they the best!
