What y’all fail to realize is that signing a free agent superstar is rare . Yes, NY isn’t a destination because of the losing mentality we have had here …

Big markets, destinations for the superstars, how many superstars have the lakers signed in last 20 years?

Y’all make it sound like there’s a superstar available every year. They ain’t!

Again, Dolan biggest mistake in bringing Isiah here set back the org about 10 years

Let's see. The Laker's got Pau Gasol in a trade. They got LeBron. They got Anthony Davis. They would have had Chris Paul but the league nixed it. The Clippers and Miami have also had many signings as a destination city. New York should be as much of a destination as LA and Miami, but it hasn't been. No there aren't superstars available every year (except maybe Durant-lol), but if they hadn't been a dumpster fire they should have had a few signings in the last 20 years. Isiah may have been his biggest mistake, but far from his only.

It's not just about signing superstars as free agents...it's also about keeping the ones you get by getting them to re-sign and stay with your organization.

The Lakers signed Shaq as an FA and got him to re-sign. They drafted Kobe, but kept re-signing him, as @logic mentions, they traded for Pau and re-signed him. They signed Lebron as an FA and re-signed him, AD basically forced his way to the Lakers via trade and they have re-signed him.

The only superstar they brought in who didn't re-sign for at least 1 more contract was Dwight Howard and he even came back a few years later and was an important piece on their last title team.

Yes and no on superstars being available every year. There may not be superstars available as free agents every year, but there are superstars available via trade pretty much every year. It's just a matter of what a team will accept and what another team is willing to give up.

Part of the reason the Knicks haven't been able to even trade for a superstar since 'Melo is because they either haven't been willing to part with or haven't had the picks and players necessary to get a superstar. That falls on Dolan because he hired the people who haven't been able to get anything done.

It wasn't just Isaiah...Phil was pretty bad too.
