Other then the visual difference of the 2 sports ….

What is different in their formula for success?

In the NBA you need a superstar.

Hockey you don’t. You just need a solid all around team. The best players in hockey are on the ice for only 1/3 of the game. They can’t possibly have the impact of a superstar in basketball who plays 40 minutes out of 48.

Many ways to build a successful team in hockey. NBA requires a superstar with high quality supporting pieces around him.

And getting that superstar isn’t easy.

But the Knicks are so poorly managed they aren’t ever in position to get that superstar.

They tell you that no way you win a ring without a star player..

Then they blame Dolan cause no star player will play here cause of him..

What has Dolan said , done to any Knicks player who ever played here to pose them off that the Media hasn’t gotten on him for?

Ask yourself that fookin question!!!

The New York media is freekin relentless they want a championship hete just as bad as any fan!!

They have the platform that could force an owner to sell .

Yet not one word printed from daily news ny post or newsday callin Dolan to sell.

No one from CBS NBC OR ABC callin Dolan out.

I almost did not get past the hockey you don’t!!!

Name one hockey team who won that didn’t have star players on their roster?

And please , players get rest in both sports during course of game. Neither sports have their stars performing entire contest.

WTF

Every team has stars. Even bad ones.

Superstars are special.

And in the NBA you need one.

Hockey you can get buy with a few regular stars. It doesn’t take an Ovechkin to win a title.

Please , OV has been on roids for the past 10 years. They don’t talk about it cause hockey was almost a dead sport.

He gained 35 lbs of muscle in less than 3 months and no one said shit.

He ain’t no superstar, he’s a an f n bully on skates . And I say this with no malice. I don’t dislike him in anyway .

Y’all have no idea wtf a bad owner is

Carl Pohlad owned the Minnesota Twins..

I played in that organization.

He was known as the cheapest owner in sports and even he won a championship!

We were housed in the Melbourne regional airport during spring training, I had 707’s in my freekin backyard !!!

We had to walk a 1/4 mile to get fed every morning and night.

During instructional ball we were fed hot soup and crackers every f n day in the heat! EVERYDAY

Everyone knew this cheap Bastit was cheap as shit and was disliked and yet he won a ring.

Wtf have you heard about Dolan and how he treats his players and coaches . If anything he’s too easy on them!

Wow

Julius Randle is a star.

Brunson is a star.

Nothing remotely special about either. Superstars are elite. The best of the best.

Maybe 8 or 9 in the league today.

For most people, when everyone they encounter tells them they are wrong that usually clues them in to the fact that they might be.

Everyone here and Knick fans you talk to all think Dolan is the problem.

Because he is.

You are describing a cheap owner.
No one has claimed that Dolan is a cheap owner.
He is just bad at hiring guys that know how to build a Championship caliber NBA team.

Logic, cmon man, with all due respect.

What choices did Dolan have? What did you expect HIM to do?

He brought in big names with incredible reps , former players , coaches, nothing worked . And like msgkings said luck plays a part and he’s 100 % correct.

It doesn’t mean he’s a bad owner tho , It just means he has bad luck.

Again, he also owns another team in a major sport where the people he hired had success and brought in players who also gave the fans hope

What do you mean what choices did he have? It's New York, he has the choice of anyone that he wants. He chose big names in things other than management. He chose a player in Thomas and a coach in Jackson to be GM and President, not the jobs they were good at. It is not bad luck, it is a lack of understanding. If you don't know the right questions to ask you will never get the right answer. I'm sure they told him things that he wanted to hear in their interviews, he just doesn't get the NBA well enough to know those things were wrong. Why is it so hard for you to understand what will be successful in hockey does not necessarily work in basketball. I would think that you would be the first to grasp this with over 20 years of evidence under your nose.

Either that or you are being intentionally obtuse because you enjoy the attention.

Dolan decided to give Isiah a chance here in NY , you sayin he knew before hand that Isiah was not going to get the job done?

Does that make any sense ?

Dude please!!! The rest is just ridiculous!

So , Dolan sabotaged every Knick fan with all his decisions intentionally?

He gave Thomas a chance because he didn’t ask him the right things in the interview. He probably thought he could get the job done because he was both star struck and doesn’t understand what it takes to build a NBA winner so he bought Thomas’ BS.

The intentionally obtuse for attention was you, not Dolan, but you knew that, proving the point.

Thomas wasn’t just bad, he was historically bad.

During his tenure, the Knicks were one of the worst teams in the league despite having one of the highest play rolls. He made bad trades for malcontent stars and drastically overpaid role players while constantly dealing away draft picks.

And Dolan kept him on for 5 years! Even then, he wasn’t fired, he was reassigned as a consultant.

PJ had a predictably bad run as GM too. He came in hell bent on hiring a coach who would run his triangle offense, even though the triangle was outdated in the modern game. He didn’t really make any good trades, and he publicly antagonized the franchises 2 most valuable players (Melo and Porzingas), Zinger to the point that he threatened to retire from league and play in Europe if he wasn’t traded. Forcing a rarely seen trade of a star player on a rookie contract.
