has emerged as the top candidate to replace Eberflus since he coached Caleb at USC.

He was a senior offensive analyst at USC in 2023 before he got the Washington OC gig.

Thoughts?

Wouldn't be my #1 choice with Bill, Vrabel and even Carroll options but he is a major upgrade over Eberflus IMO.

Coaching Caleb at USC means a lot and he is an offensive guy, not a defensive one.

I want none of the names mentioned here honestly.

Vrabel averaged 9 wins a year and I think the game has passed by Pete and Bill. They had their glory. It’s gone.

Kingsbury is good at quick returns but not great at sustainability.

Zac Robinson is someone I hope they talk to along with Ben Johnson.

He did lead the Cards to an 11-6 season in 2021 and if I remember right.....they had a lot of injuries in 2022 when he got fired.

Not sure I'd like him as much being our HC as opposed to an OC. And since he's already that now, I doubt he'd want to make a lateral move. But due to his past relationship with Caleb, it presents an interesting scenario.

I get being hesitant of not wanting a coach who has "failed previously" but again he represents several things the Bears need.

1-Offense. Kingsbury is known as an offensive guy and that is what I have seen from a lot of you on your wish list for the next coach. I really don't think Ben Johnson is leaving for the Bears.....I think he will stay with the Lions until the PERFECT job opens (for him)....I believe he is the highest paid OC and there is no real reason for him to leave Detroit any time soon.

2-A relationship with Caleb. That cannot be discounted with your potentially franchise QB.

3-Previous HC experience. If he was currently the coach the Bears would have probably won the game vs the Lions. And he definitely would not have let them not call a timeout in that situation vs the Lions.

4-He has a high football IQ as a former player and he knows the game. If I remember right there was some surprise about him being fired after the 4-13 season. Because, of previously mentioned said injuries.

If Caleb truly is a generational type player, he just needs an OC to show him the intracacies of the NFL game. He wont need an OC forever.

It helps when you have a coach you have history with though.

I wont argue that. But the really good QBs eventually knew the game so well they could run any offense successfully.

Caleb is a rookie right now.

Bring in KK and see what he can do with the kid.

As of today, i have confidence in Caleb that things are strarting to click for him under Thomas Brown. Not saying Brown is the answer, but Caleb seems more decisive and a lot less hesitant.

Problem with Kliff is that his system works early on and then defenses adjust. His system doesn’t ever really evolve. Almost everywhere he’s ever been you see early success and then the arrow consistently points down over time.

Bring in Zac Robinson and you have a coach that will show Caleb how to use the whole field and all your weapons.

Atlanta barely scores more than we do and they have a legit veteran QB.

I think the Bears should do like they've been doing and draw a name out of a hat.

Two thoughts on this. One is, rumors have it Johnson wanted the job last year. Two, there is not a better scenario out there for a team that needs a coach than the Bears. The offensive weapons, very nice. Rookie QB that has shown potential, super sweet. A solid Defense, win, win. Do the Bears have some issues, sure, O line comes to mind, some D line help also, but that's about it.
