Heh. Given recent circumstances. That's funny.I heard Cousins threw an absolute fit over this.
But it was intercepted.

Maybe RM or the play calling is an issue, but I can't see him going 4 games without throwing a TD being all of their fault. Cousins is too good of a QB for that to be the case. Something's not right with him. He's lost his fast ball, or so it appears to me. I wouldn't be surprised if he was hurt. He's been an iron-man when it comes to durability and with the mindset of the average NFL player in general. I can see him not revealing that to anyone. I think its more a case of his greatest asset, durability, becoming his biggest obstacle. Whatever then case may be. I wish him the best. For all the money he's made he still seems like a regular dudeYou could be right, maybe he has hit a wall and maybe Morris an the OC hit a wall. Cousin's was 3rd in the league in yards when everything went to shit. I did not see a game until Monday night. He wasn't good but he only threw 17 passes. The OLie run blocked well but pass blocked a lot worse. I hope better or Penix but he is not the type to move around a lot.
I think Cousin's and his wife made a decision and it was not the right one. We'll see, it could be that father time got him.
That could be true too. He fell quickly.Maybe RM or the play calling is an issue, but I can't see him going 4 games without throwing a TD being all of their fault. Too late!
My point was it's too late to trade him for that massive haul they could have gotten when Kirk was doing OK. I'm not sure what the return would be now if he wants to keep playing. It could be he decides to retire, since I dont see his move to Atlanta as an empty gesture.you dont see a team paying 27.5 million to get him next year?

I don't think it to be ballsy at all. Although he doesn't have Kirk's experience, Penix is the younger more talented thrower of the football. I know that they were hoping to get through this season with Kirk and possibly move him next year. However, considering the talent on their team, Kirk was supposed to come in, ala the Vikings, and get them deep into the playoffs. Btw; there's no way they draft Penix at 8 overall and have him sit for more than one year.I see. Atl could get some cap relief with a trade. There is no way ATL could have predicted the downfall like KC had this year. I think ATL's plan was to ride with KC for the whole year and see what happens. At the trade deadline KC was playing well. That would be alot of balls to trade him at that point in time.

Darnell is 27 and not coming off of a major injury. Kirk is 34 and his best days are probably behind him. Also, there's that monstrous contract that Cousins signed to be considered. By comparison Sam Darnold signed a 1 year , $10,000,000 contract with the Minnesota Vikings, including $6,250,000 signing bonus, $8,750,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $10,000,000. In 2024, Darnold will earn a base salary of $2,500,000, a signing bonus of $6,250,000 and a workout bonus of $250,000, while carrying a cap hit of $5,000,000 and a dead cap value of $8,750,000. Trading Kirk would be nothing close to trading Darnold.but that would be like the Vikings trading Darnold this year if McCarthy was healthy. No way that would have happened. Atl was predicted to win their division.

I agree with you, however, it is also extremely rare to sign a QB like Kirk to a massive contract, and in the same off-season, draft his replacement with the eight overall pick in the draft.i forgot the money issue. But If a QB is playing well very rare that a team trades him

.. And how would you look at them had they traded Cousins to a team like the Raiders for what looks like the #2 pick/plus in the upcoming draft before the deadline this year?agreed, everyone was shocked at that. The Falcons look like geniuses right now.

Once they got Penix, the best move in a series of intriguing moves, would have been to strike when Kirk was playing ok.
This situation is odd in ATL. Maybe they were trying to pull a Green Bay move? Let the future sit for a year or 2, while the vet tries to get a superbowl? Seems reckless, like you could've signed kirk and drafted help or signed a different FA and draft your qb
