Pretty much the only thing I can think of is cocaine...and if it's that, he'd be in jail, no? I mean, what else could it be if he's not in jail, but is big enough that he breached a contract? It has to be big, because they're still effing paying a wife beater.
Kings aren't paying the wife beater at the present time. He hurt his ankle playing tennis and they suspended him without pay. Beat your wife get a check. Twist your ankle ( tear your Achilles ) lose your pay.Pretty much the only thing I can think of is cocaine...and if it's that, he'd be in jail, no? I don't think it is cocaine. There are rules in the CBA for that. Stoll got busted and nothing so it would be hard for the Kings to nail Richards with that. Maybe they caught him having sex/giving booze in his boat with a USA minor but legal in Canada.
I have no idea. I am sure the news when it comes out we will all be wrong
if it was something criminal, you'd think it would have come out by now
Hockey is a distant #4 down here. You may want to keep that in mind Bettman, the next time you think expansion is a good idea.
It`s not my cup of tea, but I think NASCAR has passed hockey in the States.

friedman claims the incident occurred on or around June 17. but the kings didn't find out until midway through the first round of the draft. that seems odd
While we wait, I think the media reaction (or lack thereof) says a lot about the popularity of the sport in the US.
If Richards were a football, baseball or even a basketball player, ESPN and their ilk would be all of this. Its really quite incredible that nothing has leaked yet.

The NHL Final averaged 5 million viewers; the NBA Final averaged 20 million. It's marketing, though. I mean, yes. Hockey is less popular, but not by a lot at least when it comes to Basketball. ESPN doesn't cover the story as much because they don't have a contract to show hockey. They won't promote a product they can't sell themselves.
NBCSN has hockey as it's prime source, so they aren't going to be that aggressive because this makes their breadwinning product look tainted.
Make no mistake, if this makes the NHL look stupid or sleazy (and I think it will) ESPN will be all over it with both barrels.
Was Mike Richards on Jack Warner's payroll and helped Canada secure the 2015 Women's World Cup?They better be air tight on this termination boy. And it better be unique in incident, if it's drugs or assault it's all been done before and they didn't care. With this and pro her this league makes me want to watch FIFA for fairer ways it handles things

There's a pretty significant gap in popularity between the two.
Really? I had seen a bunch of stats all year that it was a dead heat regular season. Didn't realize it jumped that much in the playoffs.
Probably because no one in Cleveland has a job, so they can sit and watch TV.
