Are you taking into account that we may sign Yu to a large cntract
And if we do, the payroll was gonna go up regardless.

IMO it benefits us b/c we can field an improved team and the money spent is damn near the same, with or without Prince.
At least they got Fielder out of the third spot.Profar 4, Desmond 8, Mazara 9, Beltre 5, Fielder DH, Rua 7, Moreland 7, Andrus 6, Wilson 2
Much better lineup.
Of the 2 lineups below the second one is less costly and it includes Prince's contract. There should be no financial difficulties brought on by dumping Prince's contract.
2016 Lineup
C Chirinos/Holaday/Wilson 500k x 3 = 1.5 million
1B Moreland 5.7 million (7.2 million)
2B Odor 500k (7.7)
3B Beltre 16m (23.7)
SS Andrus 15m (38.7)
LF Choo 20m (58.7)
RF Mazara 500k (59.2)
CF Desmond 8m (67.2)
DH Prince 18m (85.2)
2017 Lineup
C Chirinos/Holaday/Wilson 1.5 million
1B Gallo 500k (2 million)
2B Profar 500k (2.5 million)
3B Beltre 18 million (20.5)
SS Andrus 15 million (35.5)
LF Rua 500k (36)
RF Mazara 500k (36.5)
CF Brinson/Cordell/DeShields 500k (37)
DH Odor 500k (37.5)
Prince's Contract 18m (55.5 million)

Even with paying his salary their overall expenditure goes down so there is no financial hardship.yes but the Rangers are still paying his salary. So while the "on-field" cost may be reduced, that doesn't really benefit or even affect the Rangers actual payroll in any way. Spending less on the lineup doesn't absolve them of paying Prince. Salaries are guaranteed in MLB, unlike the NFL.

Thank you for doing the math. That is a good sized savings overall which we could use for Darvish or somewhere else.I did the numbers, look at the quote section above I have your lineups posted with 2016 & 2017 salaries
It's a difference of about 20 million
I get what you're both saying but point is they could spend less money on a more productive lineup and STILL eat Prince's contract overall
Assuming some potential raises add 5 million and it still comes to only 60 million spent on the lineup and that's including still having to pay Prince's salary in addition to the extra player taking his spot

Didn't realize you left off Choo, but even with his salary would basically allow them to eat Fielder's contract and still field an OF of Mazara/Brinson & co./Choo and still have essentially the same money devoted to the lineup this year versus next
It would just require a leap of faith in Gallo & Brinson replacing Moreland (not so big actually) and Desmond ( much bigger leap)
Choo ain't going anywhere.
lolA comeback at 12-2? Cmon man..... It's locked down. Mariners come in here down one game.
He walks on average at least every 10 times he comes to the plate. I would love to see him have something like last year's overall numbers but it just is not happening.I don't think pitchers "fear" Prince as much as people think. He's not a threat to walk.
Everybody loves the CrawlerThis is so annoying. Now I'm getting shit from Seattle fans.
nobody thought they would come back. don't sweat it.This is so annoying. Now I'm getting shit from Seattle fans.
