I feel like the show has plateaued. The Gillis/Ray episode probably won’t be topped.
So a show has been on for 11 years. They have their biggest episode (I actually didn’t think it was a great episode, but it was inarguably their biggest episode ever) a few months ago, and your takeaway is that the show has plateaued?

I know you have been watching for at least 8 months, so you bring a lot to the discussion, but I humbly disagree.

As great as boobs are. And they are great. But I am actually happy it was censored.
If the ending was what I surmised, I am glad as well. And no way would Netflix have shown it.

I too never liked ari. That was just another reason to not like him. Never liked gross out comedy.
I hate him because of the whole Bert thing. That is going too far. But then you throw in his stunts, and I just don’t see any value he brings. He is a fucking animal on all the Save Our Parks.

I don't get the stunts. Have no idea what the Bert thing is. But his youtube special was great.

The basic gist is that Ari dosed Bert when Bert was trying to have family time. If BERT (!!!), of all people, wants to go sober, LET HIM!!

If you want a more detailed telling of the story, google it. But that is the readers digest of it.

No, I was aware of that. One of the dumbest bits in history, but if he's found that helps sell tickets who am I to say....

Unless Shane or Dr Phil have been on I’ve found myself not really interested. Drew is living off his 1st episode. 2 or 3 regulars you can’t understand. All of Kam’s minutes sound the same. I just don’t get Casey. William seems a lot more miss than hit anymore. Ari (the Lithuanian not the Jew) is good though.

Bert told one BANGER of a joke that was long enough to fill an entire special and was able to eventually become a (bomb of a) movie. His entire career after that has been him resting on that joke.

I am not a huge Bert fan, but I don’t have any reason to dislike him. He seems like a fun dude.

The regular job is reverting back to what it was initially intended to be…. An internship. Though, adjusted to a platform now due to the size of the show now compared to what it was at the beginning.

Drew has not been on in a long time. I suspect he has been downgraded to the “friend of the show” status along with the Uncles (Lazor and Joley).

Kam is a true beginner, just trying to find his voice. I see improvement, and you can’t argue his charisma.

Rocket is horrible. Full stop.

William is what he is. I think it is near time for him to move on, but he has turned KT into his career at this point. He is something other than a regular now.

Ari is a true pro, but also somewhat new. He is using KT right now to stay in the country, and the comic community is working collectively to get him his citizenship. Outside of that story, though, he is fully legit.

The show has actually changed very little from the very early days. The Patriot was replaced by the band. The first mock-band was replaced by a legit band. The regulars changed from interns to exposure back to interns. The panelists went from critiquing and “punching up” the comic’s minutes to a kind of roastfest of the pulls, but that is natural as the pulls changed from 100% grinding open-micers to general schmoes looking for their 15 minutes.

i dont think ari is a true pro yet... he doesnt finish his jokes well... him and Kam get away with almost anything because they are so charismatic and are amazing personalities...

Ari reminds me of a young Eddie Murphy... (cant think of a better comp) the physical comedy is amazing, and the jokes are great...

But if Ari is going to make it big he needs to get away from Kill tony... I dont think KT hurts him yet... but he needs to get away from the KT/Joe Rogan crowd and go mainstream... even if he has to sell out to do so....

Yeah he always seems like a good guy when he's on Kill Tony. I really don't delve too deep into any comedians personal lives. I love Kill Tony, but that's really all I want to know about how the sausage (comedy) is made. I know they all have podcasts now but to me listening to Andrew Schulz, Shane Gillis and Mark Normand (or insert any other comedians) sitting on a couch discussing current events and talking about their mundane lives is incredibly boring. Although I'm glad some people like it because it gives those guys a way to make a living. Before those opportunities existed, you had a select few like Seinfeld and Chappelle and the late night guys making millions and billions and countless other good comedians working as waiters to supplement their incomes.

I don't know. What do you consider mainstream? It seems like Kill Tony is getting pretty close to mainstream. They are selling out arenas. And I can't think of too many comedians that haven't been a guest on there at least once over the years.

i actually dont know what i mean by mainstream... maybe to get recognized outside of the KT world... get his own specials... make it big...

but it is interesting, even though the KT fanbase gets shit on. they are very loyal and will pay to see anyone linked with KT... so i really dont know if he even needs to be "MILKS DEFINITION OF MAINSTREAM" to be successful...

i just see him and think he has so much potential to be more than a KT comedian... if he figures out how to finish his jokes....

but thats also a big compliment to him, that he doesnt need good punchlines... thats how good he is....

I don’t think it is fair to say “he can’t finish his jokes”.

He is only given 1-2 minutes a shot, and he is not demonstrating his stronger stuff. He is trying out legit new ideas that he is working through (same with Kam). I think Hans is probably the only current reg who uses “finished” material.
