Kevin Williams is a beast. Even at his declining age he still managed to get 3.5 sacks last year. Being a rotational player on our line will allow him to be fresh and maximize his production throughout the season.

More depth and more competition for cheap. Sounds good to me.

He was great up until last year but before that he played to a pro bowl level. I think limiting his snaps will help as he played more snaps then anyone on our D line last year.

I think this is another of those smaller name but good production guys who will fit our rotation, like Bennett and Avril. Hopefully he pans out to be something similar. Combined with the youngsters coming along, and Bennett taking more snaps, this D-Line could be great, yet again even after losing Bryant, Clemons and McDonald.

This also is another Vikings West player. So strange, but whatever works.

Seahawks do seem to love Vikings players. One of those odd things.

What do you Seapeople think the odds of him making the team are?

If he can be at least as good as McDonald was in the rotation with McDaniel, then I think he makes the team. A lot also depends on the development of Jordan Hill and Jesse Williams.

Gotta love more competition though.

i think this is very accurate, williams is being brought on to compete and see if he has anything left in the tank. Im sure he just wants to win, he will take less money and be on rotation which is the beauty of this defense. I still dont understand jared allen he said on record he wants to play for a contender he can come here play on rotation but have to take less money. nope took the money and went to what was one of the worst defenses last season. I hope he enjoys watching the playoffs the same way he did while being a viking

Jared wanted the money.... PERIOD... I like this pick up though because it's a low risk situation with potential high reward...

Really don't know what kind of depth they perceive they have. They have brought in vets over recent years and not used them like Antoine Winfield and T.O.

I see this signing as an insurance policy. If the young guys step up and fill the voids left by our departing free agents, I think that's what the coaching staff would prefer, but just in case one or more of those guys isn't ready yet, Williams is a vet who can step in and do the job. We could either have a Winfield situation or a Bennett/Avril situation. Either way, I think that leaves us in good shape on the defensive line.

Granted we really didn't give up anything (spare money) but Schneider/Carroll have said in the past that they have a very good history with the Vikings ownership and that they are great to deal with. If that's the case, I imagine the Vikes FO is extremely transparent with Seattle's FO and gives them good information on the players that they did not resign or are on the trading block.

And the whole Steve Hutchinson thing was really a nasty move by Steve's agent who was quickly looking to get a pay day. Yah Minnesota drafted the contract, but Steve's agent really screwed over Seattle and Steve.

I think this could be one of the Seahawks most underrated offseason moves this year. He could have a real impact in the middle with his snap count limited, keeping him fresh.
