Oh, he isn't likely to rake. There's an NL book out on him now.

Nonetheless, his D is still elite and he does have some pop.

As advertised.

He makes us a couple wins better, just didn't think those wins would all come in April.

I don't know about the eye test on Pillar's defense (haven't had a chance to watch him this season), but I do know that dWAR shows slippage on him. Here's what he's looked like in that category since his first full big league season:
2015: 2.8
2016: 2.7
2017: 1.9
2018: 0.3

So far, he's got a 0.1 in his first 15 games of 2019. If he keeps that pace, he'll end a full season around 1.1 dWAR. Decent, but not elite.
