Kenny Britt has all of the talent in the world but he is no good to the team once he's hurt for the rest of the season.

Blown ACL/MCL is not "Injury Prone".

Couple of hamstring issues which can be cured by staying in shape rather than getting in shape.

Personnally, I hope he makes the Pats roster and proves himself to be an intregal part of the offense.
It would be good to have 2 reliable outside WR's for a change rather than a bunch of slot guys and a rely on the TE position.

I hope he can see a healthy season. It just seems like he goes down with one injury or another for the bulk of the season.

would be a huge move, low risk/ high reward. With a halfway competent qb he could be big.

So did he sign with them or not? :noidea:

From what I've gathered he hasn't. He met with them just today, so maybe a contract is in the works. But he plans to meet with the Redskins next.

I'm more in your camp on this one...talented guy...although players with checkered past seem to find the right path once they sign in NE, but Britt is kind of a double risk with just decent skills now.

It's not really the risk that's my issue. I don't want any more bodies taking reps away from our young guys. There's a lot of talent already on the roster and adding Lafell already means one of Lafell, Boyce, and Amendola doesn't make the final team most likely. I don't see the point of more guys unlikely to contribute taking away reps from second year guys who need every single one of them to pick up the subtleties of a very complex patriots offense.

I think this might be a bit overblown. Lately they haven't had some of the success that they had before with signing some of these guys. Guys like Adalius Thomas, Haynseworth, Ocho-Cinco come to mind of troubled but talented guys that went to New England and failed.

10-11 WR's is the norm for the training camp roster.
I understand your enamoration with the rookies that were signed last year, and the talent bring. I want Dobson, Thompkins and Boyce to all develop into elite WR's. But if they go down in preseason, before final cuts or even sooner, it's perfect business sense to have done due diligence by having brought free agents in, and to have signed some. That's why trianing camp starts at 90 and game day is cut to 53.

In '07 they signed Stallworth in free agency which many thought was a huge move for them. Then they got Moss in a trade. I would have really liked to have seen Stallworth suceed in Foxboro, but I liked seeing Moss blow the league apart even more. If he had brought an I don't play except when I want, he would have been gone, but Bill would have done his "Due Diligence".

This is where it would all depend on the contract that they sign him to. There are some players that are almost uncuttable once you sign them. They actually cost you more Cap Space than you would be paying them to stay on the roster for 1-year. So again it would all depend on the contract that they get these guys for. If none of the contract is guaranteed and make them have to earn a roster spot then yeah it is always good to bring in a bunch of potentially good players and let them battle it out for the roster but my guess is Britt would not sign a contract like that. He would want some kind of guarantee. So then you have to ask yourself is he worth it to have one of the younger cheaper guys cut?

It depends a lot on the situation. If your team is full of young guys who need the reps, it is much different than a lot of veterans you can just plug and play. Every rep Dobson, Thompkins, and Boyce (assuming he makes it) get is extremely valuable.

I cannot think too many second year players that Bill has cut. Until they prove themselves fragile.

All 3 were injured last year. Good to have vets on the roster to guard against being caught short handed once regular season starts.

Joey Galloway was a vet that didn't make it.
Torry Holt didn't last long.
Chocko Johnson lasted longer than he should have.
Brandon Lloyd had more promise than performance.
Jabar Gaffney brought solid contribution.
Reche Caldwell, not so much.
Donte Stallworth, enough to be brought back again.

Some are plug and play, some are not. Some had great careers elsewhere, some did not.

Bill always brings in some vets, whether there are rookies or journeymen on the roster. If LaFell (sp?) catches everything thrown his way, and Dobson does not...Dobson will probably be on the roster, but will be closer to the door next year. The same next year that bill will bring in more WR's to compete for AD, KT and JB's position again.

No more "Brady needs receivers." That bullshit is over. No more excuses. Win or STFU and go home.

Brady wins by himself, doesn't need anyone on defense or offense. Hell doesn't need Belichick

Britt is a non factor. All about himself. Will be lucky to be a #3 WR on most teams.

Pats had so many weapons on offense that their kickoff specialist Edelman was their no#1 guy

Absolutely this. I can't believe anyone would think otherwise. Something tells me he's going to end up with you guys and I can't wait to see what happens. Your coaches will use him as a weapon (unlike the fucking Titans). Hell, the Titans wouldn't even throw the damn ball to Randy Moss or Jared Cooke so don't judge Kenny Britt based on them!

Whats the over/under on number of games Britt and Gronkowski play together at full health?? 5.5? The Pats might have the best offense in the league for those games but its going to matter when they happen

Edelman, Gronk, Britt, Brady? They should set records those games. I'd sign Britt today and be prepared to bolster the OL in the draft.
