Speaking of current DBs. QD has nerve damage in his shin. That doesn't sound godd for him or the Skins short term or long-term.
I would like to still have Fuller here. Anyone that says differently is defending the trade, not his value.
It probably depends on the situation of how the season unfolds. To me, Colt could be just as effective, if not more, that AS in this offense right now. IF AS continues to struggle and his play directly costs us wins, they would be stupid to let the season slip away just to defend a trade. The NFCE is very winnable right now for 3 of the 4 teams in it. We are in the drivers seat, but we need someone to step on the gas. That someone has to be our QB. Petersen cannot be out only means of offensive production, the NFL adapts very quickly and if we cannot counterbalance AP with some sort of passing threat, then defenses will just stack the box to stop him. IN fact, if I am the Giants DC, that is what I do today. I dare AS to pass over my defenders as they inch toward the line of scrimmage. Why not, what to they have to lose?Anyone still defending the trade can only do so from a 'give it time' position. To which I would ask, how much time? It'll be interesting to see how long Smith gets if his play doesn't improve. Halfway point of the season? When his play is the biggest reason leading to our 1st losing streak of the year? I know he'll get leeway due to the trade, but if Smith's play doesn't improve soon. How long before Gruden, Snyder etc start thinking Colt is a more viable option.
