I like Scwartz as a DC. Hopefully the bitching will stop about who is wanting who? We go back to the 4-3 and probably a better version of the wide 9 that when Washburn was here. Cox is happy, therefore, I am happy.

That is good news! This is the most important addition to Pederson's staff. I still would rather have Shurmur than Reich, but Schwartz can fix the D!!

Really not a fan of this wide-9. Yes we have better personnel for this scheme now than we did with Washburn, but I personally don't like the philosophy. Our LB's outside of Hicks better start working on their tackling.

He has run a wide-9 version before at times, but he will run a basic 4-3 with variations. this is great news!

I like the hire -- he's a proven DC, and I love that we will be back in a 4-3. I just don't want to force the wide-9 if it's not working. We definitely have some playmakers for him to get creative with.

I don't remember saying that I didn't want Schwartz, and not going to spend the time to go back to look it up. I liked him or Pettine as I recall. Whatever!

This would be an excellent hire - after reading up on Schwartz a bit, the theory on his use of the wide-9 is a bit exaggerated, it wouldn't an every down thing like it was with Washburn.

He has consistently fielded strong defensive units everywhere he's been, plus his previous HC experience helps too.

As far as Reich goes, I'm indifferent to it - I thought they would keep Shurmur, but whatever. Despite not having that impressive of a track record in his brief career, he is well respected around the league and was a HC candidate just last year for the Jets and Bills. Teamed with Pederson they will grow together with the offense they will create, and hopefully the result is good.
