Redskins season a disappointment because of missed chances

Good article that sums up a lot of my feelings. We need a new DC. SM must address the DL through the draft. I do get nervous that by taking the BPA, you might strike out on DL like we did last year. SM even said that by each pick, their DLineman that they wanted had recently been taken. We can't afford to do that again. That is why I am not a draft the BPA guy.

Also, we have to upgrade the kicking game. The Cincy game literally cost us the playoffs. No excuses as Hopkins leads the NFL in missed FG.

Agree @ Hop. He needs to at least have competition. He was not good this year.

Correct, BPA when you can afford to make selections like that, We are definitely in need of defensive players so BPA must be limited to those guys and not the overall board.

I'm not so sure Gruden is going to get a free pass. He was out coached yesterday and that is not the first time. He was outreached in the Carolina game also. I doubt he gets fired. But I don't see an extension in his future anytime soon. And I won't be surprised if the entire defensive coaching staff gets the axe. God knows they deserve it.

First of all you can't evaluate drafts until at least 3 years after they occur. The comparison to Shanahan is not fair since he has more drafts & more time for these players to develop. Also - he had several overall ineffective drafts. The two drafts that included Kerrigan & Reed (2011 & 2013) consisted basically of no other players who now contribute to the Redskins - not good. You also have to include the fact that numerous # 1 picks from the Shanahan era were thrown away in the RG3 trade (regardless of who is to blame),

You also ignored Crowder who is a starter & a huge contributor for the Redskins. P. Smith is also a starter & Cravens will be next season. Fuller should also be a big contributor & Jarret helps this team. You can't judge the Doctson pick just yet - let's see how he rebounds next season. Give this some time before judging everything.

Shanahan did not have great drafts but the best players on this team for the most part were drafted by Shanahan. P. Smith is average at best at this point. Except for a 4 game flurry his first year there is little good to point out. Cravens played 11 games and started 3? First you need to know if he can stay on the field. He might be great but we have not seen that yet. Doctson is obviously and incomplete. Could be great, could be a bust.
