You guys are awesome. Figured I'd throw another one at you.

From this point on, who do you think will have the most long-term success? How would you rank these guys?

Sammy Watkins
T.Y. Hilton
Josh Gordon
DeAndre Hopkins
Percy Harvin

This is strictly based on the fact that I don't think Gordon ever stops getting in trouble. If he does, he would move to #1 and everyone slides down a spot.

Gordon's problem is weed. Hard to think the NFL will stay so draconian about it. I'll take Gordon long-term.

Current CBA runs until 2021..they don't HAVE to change anything until then..if then. And even though they certainly are looking into changes, to enact much sooner than that, One more problem and it's basically "cya later" for Gordon. I'm not so sure he can keep his nose clean long enough for them to enact changes..or his lungs.

I know I'll catch a lot of flack for this, but Marijuana smoke has no proven negative impacts on people's lungs. Smoking tobacco is terrible for you, but when was the last time you saw any athlete smoking anything tobacco related or struggling with nicotine addiction? Other than a victory cigar I have never seen it. I guarantee most nba players and a lot of other world class athletes smoke weed and it has no effect on their game. Heck, look at Michael phelps. He's one of the most decorated Olympians, and I guarantee he still tokes nowadays, he just understands that when someone he doesn't know is smoking with him, they won't bust out a camera. Go back stage to a country concert and you'll see the same things. Country stars trying to appeal to the drug free main stream prohibiting cameras so the outside world can't see them smoking weed and drinking beer. Basically, what I am saying is that Gordon smoking (or inhaling 2nd hand mj smoke) will have absolutely no effect on his play other than suspensions. I also want to end this post saying I do not smoke, but wish it would be decriminalized.

Anyway my rankings go as such....

Watkins
Harvin
Gordon
Hopkins
Hilton

I also want to include that athletes can rid marijuaha from their system a lot easier and quicker than people like us can. They have a lot less body fat for the tch to latch onto, which makes it much easier for them to rid it from their system quickly. Regular people take about a month to rid it from thei system if they smoke a lot, athletes probably take a week AT MOST, probably closer to 3 or 4 days. If these sports were really worried about these drugs, they would do a hair test that cannot be faked. The hair test is more expensive (by like 100 dollars) but why try to save such minuscule money when you're paying these athletes millions of dollars? The bottom line is that they don't care and it really doesn't matter. You're really just testing if these athletes are stupid drug users.

I'd rank them like this; Watkins, Hopkins, Hilton, Harvin, Gordon.

Footnote: Gordon is last only because he is just dumb. He have the weed thing hanging over his head but then goes out and gets busted driving over the legal limit for alcohol. Putting yourself in a situation where it can be a $$millions of dollars problem when you know better is just plan dumb - and it will happen again. Also, I've seen posts on here seemingly stating that using weed should be declared ok and it has no effect on performance. I think those posts are just following the latest main-stream media opinion. As a teen from the 60's I can assure you that it does effect performance & judgment - they don't call it getting high for nothing. As for long term effects, maybe less health effect than tobacco, but I know people who used it a lot and appear to have lost plenty of brain cells along the way.
I'm not judging those who may use it, I really don't care, but to say it is 'safe' is a non-truth. If they want to legalize, that's fine by me, just tax the hell out of it like alcohol and tobacco. Back to Gordon - even if they legalize weed and he gets a pass, he'll find something else to screw up his life and career.

I'm going with Hilton #1 because of the offensive system. Wayne only has a few years left and then he will be the guy in a pass first very good offense. Watkins is second because the guy really is talented, I just wish he didn't land in Buffalo because E.J. Manual will never be a top tier quarterback. Hopkins is actually a better route runner than Watkins is, but Watkins has better hands and speed. Hopkins came out of nowhere to steal the spotlight from Watkins after Watkins had such a huge Freshman year. It's funny that there are two Clemson receivers on this list when 30 years ago they exclusively ran the option and were happy with 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Gordon is of course the wild card here as he is by far the most talented of the group but I'm just not sure he can stay on the field. Speaking of which I have no idea how you can put Harvin anywhere near the top of the list. At least Gordon does stupid off the field stuff but when he's on the field he produces. Harvin can't stay healthy, period. Is it more likely that a guy can change his personality or that a guy can change his body that is apparently made of glass? I'll go with the personality change at 4.

Harvin has a bad rep for some reason. He missed three games in his first three years, while being on the top 25 each time, (only two other WR can say the same in that span...White/Colston). He played through migraines! Do you understand how hard that would be, playing football with a migraine? Then yes, he missed half a season (after 60 catches in 8 games) with an ankle, and had hip surgery last year...and I think coming on healthy, he is the best player on the board in the best situation, all due respect to Hilton and the Colts, who have more of a plethora in young WR.

So that's my defense for Percy.

Wow did you take that the wrong way. The comment was nothing more than a double meaning for a saying. . As in if you're taking about some one doing drugs, "Keep your nose clean" can be read as. ."stop snorting coke, you f'ing idiot".

Obviously I didn't want to imply cocaine usage, so I added "the lungs" making an inference to smoking something which given the guy would obviously be assumed as weed. .

Per-game I love Percy. He has problems not just with tendons and ligaments (like Foster or Austin) but also with his central nervous system, and he plays the game all-out... so I worry about him.

I think the NFL would rather have playmakers like Gordon on the field - it improves their product. But as a national brand they have to keep a finger on the pulse of mainstream thinking. They don't want to be perceived as condoning a vice that most of America rejects... but for pot it's very close to a tipping point in terms of being perceived as out-of-touch draconian prudes rather than permissive panderers of stonerdom.

(Treff, I think dude was just taking the opportunity to make a statement; don't think it was directed at your post necessarily.)

If Gordon would clean up his act, it would make this a lot easier to sort out. Unfortunately, we can only speculate at this point. And a decision regarding where to draft him needs to be made based on those speculations.

Also interesting to note is that our rankings appear to be all over the place with this one. I averaged out the rankings to come up with an overall ranking list so far. Your 1st WR gets 1 point, 2nd receiver gets 2 points, etc.

1) Watkins 1.25
2t) Hilton 2.75
2t) Harvin 2.75
4) Hopkins 3.5
5) Gordon 4.75
