So, I posted a little bit ago about the owner of Dez Bryant not wanting to 'be forced' to keep him another year. I think Dez is about to blow up, getting to the 1400-1600yds +10TDs plateau. He wanted to do a Marshall for Dez, straight up trade.

Yesterday, just for the helluvit, I asked what kind of draft pick package he would be willing to deal to land Megatron, instead of landing Marshall.

He offered his 3rd round pick this year, 5th round pick next year, and Dez Bryant.
I give up my last available pick this year and next year as compensation for his draft picks, and I lose Megatron.

Pre trade keepers:
ME - McCoy, Martin, Megatron, Marshall - cost me my top 4 picks in this years draft
HIM - P.Manning, TRich, Alf Morris, Dez Bryant - cost him his top 2, 10th round(Peyton), and 16th round(Morris)

So are the extra 2 picks worth me bumping my end up from Marshall to Megatron?

I have the 5th pick in the draft, he has the 2nd or 3rd. All teams have to keep at least 2 players, most will be sacrificing thier first 2 picks to meet that requirement, so essentially, his 3rd round pick will be one of the first picks made in the re-draft.

thoughts?

So his "3rd" might actually be the first pick, right? How far down do you think that pick will actually be?

max # of keepers is 4
worst case scenario is 3-5 picks come off the board before I get to pick.

There should be at least 3-4 really good options for my team with that pick this season. I am letting Murray and Julio back into the mix, one guy has DMC, Brees, Roddy, Demaryius, Gronk, Ridley; another has Graham, Charles, Rice, Cam, RGIII, Garcon; another Fitz, Reggie Bush, Ryan, AP, Steve Smith, Gore

Just between those 4 owners (myself included) there will be at least 6 players back in the draft pool that should be drafted within the first 4 rounds of a normal draft.

And even with losing Megatron, my top 2 WRs would still be Marshall and Bryant, with the possibility of redrafting Julio.

keepers have to be set next friday, so I have a week to mull this one over. Bryant owner didnt like Dez's "inconsistency", even after I tried to get him to realize that Dez had one of the best 2nd halfs of season for any WR ever last year.

He also hates Romo, so that might lead to some of his displeasure of having Dez on his team.

Not a lot of time to really think about this right now but short answer off the top of my head is yes. How many RB/WR can you start?

I think you gotta do it. You might get Bell or Bernard or possibly even something better, in a keeper league, in exchange for trading Megatron for Dez? Absolutely. Not to mention the added pick next year.

Sam - QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, FLEX.

So any given week I can roll out 3WRs or 3RBs

Wil - that is what I was thinking last night, and almost agreed to the deal instantly, but asked for a couple days to hash it out.

Dropping from Mega to Dez, and picking up an extra early round pick in back-to-back years seems like I am maxing out my potential value for Megatron. Yes, he would have been one of my keepers for at least the next 3 seasons, but Marshall/Dez should both be around the top 5 WRs for those seasons as well. Really hard to let go of a top player in their prime though.

Not that hard! That's value, and I'm in agreement that you have to make that deal.

There is no such thing as an untradeable player. If the price is right, make the deal. I personally do not think there is much difference between Dez and Megatron. The only advantage Mega has is track record. Everything else is the same all the way down to the inconsistent, but potentially high end QB play.

starting to get some of the keepers rolling in for this league. Looking like only 1 person so far is going to be able to have a pick before mine. He's keeping Vjax and Sjax, probably going to take a RB, if I had to make an assumption.

Pretty glad I took that trade to land that 3rd round pick. I'll be able to get one of the best available RBs, followed up with QB in round 5, maybe Cam to go with my other 4 keepers. should be stacked to start the year out regardless, but I thought the same last year, until the BigBen/Rivers QB combo sunk my ship with inconsistent play.

so I have the 7th pick and the 21st pick of the redraft.
blue names are my keepers

RBs being Kept:
McCoy, Martin, Morris, TRich, Lynch, Foster, Spiller, AP, Reggie B, Forte, SJax, Rice

Best RBs available:
Charles, CJ1K, Ridley, Murray, Gore, DMC, MJD, Lamar, Wilson

I seriously doubt Charles or CJ1K make it past the first 6 choices in the redraft. All 3 teams ahead of me will make their 2nd round and 3rd round picks before my shot. And all 3 are only keeping 1 RB.

WRs kept:
Marshall, Bryant, Calvin, Green, Welker, Cruz, Lance Moore, Colston, VJax, Fitz, Blackmon, Cobb, Shorts, D Thomas, White, Amendola

Best Available:
Julio, Andre, Bowe, Garcon, Nicks, Wayne, and all the rest

Targeting James Jones and TY Hilton, then Thompkins/Hopkins late

Only QBs being kept are RGIII, Brees, Manning, Wilson, Rodgers. Leaving a great group of guys for me to choose from. If all of the guys I really like are gone by my 2nd pick (21st of redraft) I might be going QB earlier than I normally do

who used a keeper on russel wilson?

FA pick ups have a value of a 16th round pick for the first year that you keep them. Stashing Wilson in the 16th round isn't a bad call, imo. The only other player on that team that would have been worth the value was Andre Johnson, would've been a 3th round value if kept, but that's pretty much where you could draft him anyway, so that owner went with Wilson in the 16th.

OK, so here's how my draft went: (I think I go lucky on a couple guys falling to me, and I should have another difficult decision on who to keep next year)

McCoy - Keeper
Martin - K
Marshall -K
Dez - K
CJ1K - 3rd round pick via trade
Gronkowski
Garcon
Bernard
Luck
Boldin
Romo
Cameron
Ben Tate
Broyles
D Will
Dawson

Since I lost my last round pick in the trade that landed me the 3rd round pick, I forgot to get a defense. Planning on grabbing TB for the week 1 matchup vs NYJ
