Ultimately it may not be his decision and if they trade Leonard and Aldridge, he just may opt to retire.
You could be right

The NBA has always allowed the Hollywood Hollagans to do whatever they want. They love seeing Jack Nicholson sitting next to the team on TV.
It would be wise to blow it up if they can't get anyone that can take the load off of Aldridge, which looks like it's difficult to near impossible to do. It's not fair to LaMarcus, but who knows, maybe he feels like staying anyways.Yeah, not established vets.
Aldridge may get dealt if they blow it up and decide to go young.
If Pop is ready to retire and the Spurs are thinking of rebuilding at all, here's a trade idea:
Spurs get #4, #8, Chandler Parsons, Jordan Clarkson, & Cedi Osman
Grizzlies get #18, Kevin Love
Cavs get Kawhi Leonard, LaMarcus Aldridge

The Spurs wouldn't trade both for that.....they'd want a lot more, bro.

Here's the best deal I can think of to move Kawhi. Some team might need to throw in an additional second round pick or so, but for the most part it's straight up based on players. Who says no?

I'm sure the Knicks, Spurs, and Twolves would all do that trade in a heart beat. Warriors might need to sweeten it a little though.

Hence the additional second round pick. But not two though, that'd be giving up too much from the Warriors perspective.
So the #4, #8, Clarkson and Osman for a Top 5 player in basketball and the worst contract in basketball?
LOL. So I was playing around with the trade machine. Unfortunately you can only do trades for the current year, which makes it difficult to come up with a trade for the Sixers. But I came up with this one.

The funny part was that the Hollinger projection suggests that the Sixers would be 3 games worse if they did this trade and the Spurs would be about the same.
I prefaced it all with IF the Spurs want to re-build.
2 top-10 picks in a good draft is not a bad way to start a re-build, and I'm not sure a one year rental of Kawhi and 4 years of a $20M Aldridge is gonna fetch much better than that. And Parsons will be off the books at the perfect time for a re-build.
Again... this is IF the spurs want to go "the process" route.
They don't have to, with Aldridge they are a good enough team to stay competitive if that's what they want to do.
Everyone except the Warriors.
