Katy Perry Chosen by NFL to Perform 2015 Super Bowl Halftime Show

The half time shows are ten times better than the pro bowl. The pro bowl should have been axed decades ago, it's horrendous. The worst half time show has been better than any pro bowl, it's not a game it's a farce.

It needs to go away. Im glad Lions are seldom selected. Halfassed football is a great way to get hurt.

I thought Bruno Mars kicked ass last year and I'm not a fan of his in the slightest. I couldn't have told you 3 songs he sang before the SB but Holy Shit can that dude perform. Sings pretty good, dances like James Brown (that was cool, c'mon admit it), drums, piano, plus the old school way his back up musicians were all in sync. I thought it was the best halftime since Prince.

I think the last one I actually watched all the way through was Tom Petty which was pretty damn good.

Me too. I wouldn't buy one of his records but he put on a great show. It's a spectacle, not a concert or musical event. Nearly half the people who watch the game are women and/or her fans and most of the rest of us will just enjoy watching her bounce around on stage. She's a fine choice.

One thing I can't help but notice ... everyone is always highly critical of the Super Bowl musical entertainers. What I would ask is if you don't like Katy Perry , who would you want. I'm kind of surprised how critical people are of the show. I personally thought Bruno Mars did an excellent job, didn't mind the Black Eyed Peas and think Perry will also do fine. Once again who do you want to see perform?

I'm not a fan of Bruno Mars, but his show was pretty good. I was disappointed with BEP, especially after how they performed for the 2010 World Cup. But I agree... there will be detractors regardless of who is performing.

I got to laugh, I just played that video and my 7 year grandchild and her friend come running over. " Kathy Perry, I like her" they said. I guess the NFL is really going for the young crowd.

Let me get this straight ,the Super Bowl has a half-time show?. I miss the days of the Celebrity Death Match and Beevis and Butthead shows that would air during that time on that channel that used to show videos of music.

i like her too,......she's got plenty of ''hits'',....but after watching a clip of her [college-day] appearance last Saturday, she said she was NOT willing to pay the NFL to play the half-time gig,.....*NFL wants music-acts to ''bid'' on the gig/now/LOL*.

People who watch the Super Bowl watch at parties. Two more people watching the game at the party just for the halftime show doesn't boost the ratings. The same number of TVs end up watching the game. I would say I actually know more people who get up and leave the room to get food/beer than stay to watch the halftime show. The thing is, they don't change the channel or turn the TV off. It stays on even though most people ( at least the ones that I know) don't watch it, and that happens regardless of what is going on at half time.

Sure Madonna sells more tickets than an unknown band if it's just her concert. But if we're talking about an event like the Super Bowl that is sold out every year and that hundreds of millions are going to watch anyway I really don't think it makes much of a difference.

If you honestly believe that Betty White shiting in a bucket would generate as good of ratings at the halftime show as some famous (albeit shitty, but famous) pop act, then maybe you need to get into the business, because you sure seem confident that you know how to run the system better than those currently generating millions out of it.
