Big fuss over not much.

JoHo's do't stand for anthems either.

Anybody recall John Carlos and Tommie Smith in Mexico 1968?

Similar stuff.

Its not similar at all... John Carlos was an olympian when he did that in the 60's in the middle of the civil rights movement. Not a multi million dollar high paid athlete with a code of conduct that is expected to represent his team with class in return for 14 million dollars a year..

The Star Spangled Banner has become an unfortunate example of the war mongering country the US has become (America The Beautiful should be be the Anthem).

Regardless, I find it hilarious that nobody was outraged (or even noticed) when he sat during the anthem the first two preseason games. Fake outrage is high comedy.

Without the story told in the spar spangled banner there is no United States. But it celebrates war mongering?
Give us a break.

And nobody noticed he wasn't standing because he wasn't suited up or playing....

Talk about fake outrage.

Seems most of the comments have to do with his disrespect of the flag and what that means to some, particularly to the military. That's a matter of interpretation and frankly isn't the story here IMO.

What does this fucking dumbass really think he's going to accomplish? He says he's going to keep doing it until there is change. What exact change is his line in the sand? What else is he doing to further that cause besides simply not standing during the anthem? Because that act alone isn't going to do anything other than piss off some of his teammates which can hurt the locker room and team performance on the field, and make most of us laugh at how utterly stupid he is. If those are his goals then by all means carry on. There really isn't any positive impact this stunt is going to have. Furthers the discussion? Come on. If the riots and massive protests aren't doing that already does anyone think a spoiled second rate athlete that hasn't suffered a day in his life is going to somehow shape that conversation? :L

I think the change that kaepernick is going to see that is going to end this form of political activism.... Is his dumb ass getting cut. Its going to be a great social victory for all of us, 49er fans and foes alike. To not have to see, hear, or deal with this POS ever again. That will be honest to goodness wonderful social change.

Does this feel to anyone else like Kaepernick is throwing the towel in on his NFL career and getting ready to hit the talk show circuit? It does to me. Whats ironic is.... his activism is as ill timed and conceived as most of his NFL passes.

Seems like we loves our athletes who speak up well after they do so... while they're doing it, not so much.

Another racist attempt to divide.....And imagine if he now starts a trend around the league where black players follow his lead....Talk about chaotic locker rooms.....I find it fascinating, or not, that these protests, or individuals taking these stances, always stop short of being critical of the Big Boss in Washington DC.....If the person in the White House happened to be white, Im sure he would be the most popular target of the angry rhetoric

And he will claim discrimination if he's cut and be even more in the news cycle.

That and he will still be picked up by some team, even with that stupidity so he will still be sitting like a girl taking a piss.

Just to be clear.... you are suggesting that Obama isn't the popular target of angry rhetoric?
