Failed before. No chemistry whatsoever. If they were even remotely compatible, Jeff Carter would have never come to C'bus and Sean Couturier would be a Jacket.

Not reported AT ALL in Columbus, by the way. With that over-zealous twatwaffle Portzline reporting everything he hears including the color of the socks Hitchcock is wearing today, SOMETHING would have come out about it here. Nothing.

well then that about solidifies my opinion that the flyers aren't gunna get nash.. it doesnt make any sense from a flyers perspective.. and if they're not talking about it in columbus, then i feel pretty confident it wont happen..

just out of curiosity 43.. what would you expect the flyers to give up for nash? i've heard jvr+bob+1st, which i dont think is enough, what do you think?

To be honest, there are other teams more desperate for an offensive powerhouse. On a lower-tier team, this guys a 30 goal scorer. If he's on a top contender, I think he'll be at that 35-45 mark pretty regularly. I could see the Preds, Coyotes and Rangers making a run.

IMO, the Jackets MUST get back a full on face-of-the-franchise type player back. Not just for the on the ice product but as the host of the ASG, they need someone they can build the weekend around.

Jack Johnson is not the guy to do that with. And after Nash, he's the big name.

On the ice, the Jackets seem convinced they need a superstar stud goalie. I am not. With that D corps, a goalie who is trustworthy and competent will be fine. I'd prefer to see a good young kid who has shown flashes of ability, but as yet not proven themselves. The team can grow with him. Here I am thinking Bernier, Lehner, Bishop, etc. Elliott would be a franchise goalie here.

Johan Hedberg would make me a happy camper.

Outside that, you need to replace a forward who can get 30 goals with no support whatsoever.

Looking at the Flyers' roster, I don't see what the Jackets truly need. What worries me is I see a lot of what they think they need.

Giroux or JVR and Couturier would probably be enough on the ice, but the Flyers would be stupid to give up Couturier in ANY package. The Jackets are probably looking for Briere or Bryz.

You just can't trade injured players if the other team isn't aware...

Mr. Lombardi.....yes, I have a Mr. Lowebellini on line 1 for you. I'll patch them through.

EDIT: Also, I hope the Flyers get Nash before the Sharks are tempted. No offense to Nash, but he's not what the Sharks need and definitely not for the $7.8M cap hit.

43, as far as Briere goes he has an NMC or NTC, and is divorced. Most likely means his ex is getting time with the kids. If he doesnt have to be traded then he wont.

If you like a Bernier or Lehner type guy, you'll LOVE Bobrovsky. :)

I have seen him play. You will notice I have not mentioned him specifically...

Is there still talk of Briere wanting to play in Montreal? I remember when the F'ers signed him it was a surprise because everyone was expecting him to go to the Habs.

No, I wouldnt really say so. The only time it ever is even a thought if when the Habs fans boo him. Briere for the 3rd overall has me interested though. :D

oh no you di'int.. better be careful with that kind of talk, you might get some backlash from that one

i think you'll be saved from getting briere or bryz, they both have NMC (i think bryz has one anyway), and no offense, but CBJ isn't where anyone is dying to go right now..

doesn't really surprise me that you dont see what you want on the flyers roster.. aside from giroux, its basically 100% depth.. there really isn't another, 'ill beat you myself' type player on the team.. or really, anyone with the potential to do that.. schenn maybe, in a few years.. you could make the argument that briere is like that, but only in the playoffs.. and again, no offense, but that by itself wont do CBJ much good.. gotta get there to get that player

My ultimate dream is that the Jackets will stand pat, draft Grigorenko and try and sign Langkow, Doan and Hedberg.

Really not much more of a need after that. Maybe I need to go back to capgeek...

I just don't get the "Gotta trade Nash" people, because they always say "you can get a 30+ goal scorer who will chase pucks and show up every night". No... that's what you are trading away.

i dont either.. i love nash, the only reason i dont want the flyers to trade for him is because thats 7.8 mil and a lot of quality assets for something they dont really need.. the flyers have a surplus of 30ish goal scorers who chase pucks and show up.. a lot of the time?

Why on earth the Flyers would consider trading Giroux I couldn't even begin to imagine. He's the third highest scorer last regular season behind two guys who have double or more his cap hit, is currently tied for the third highest scorer and tied for the goal lead in a postseason he only played half as many games as everyone else in the top five, and has a contract that is flat-out unfair for that kind of production with two more years on it.

The only reason you would even CONCEIVE of trading him is you feel that not only won't he repeat last season's numbers, but that he won't even come close. He's not the best contract in the league - in my mind that's Quick - but he's certainly up there.
