I don't think the Vlad deal is going to happen. I think that the Turner trade was the plan B or C deal. With France gone and Locklear not looking like much they needed to do something as the deadline is near.

This is the clubhouse leader you've been asking for. They are hailing him as this season's Carlos Santana. I think it is a good move. My only complaint is that I don't think they needed to assume his entire remaining salary. He is making $13 million this year so they are taking on about $4.5 million of his salary. Otherwise, I don't see how he can be any worse than what we have been running out at first base and DH this year. And, I think he was primarily brought in to hit against lefties and provide clubhouse leadership.
