Justin Smith will play, but I can guarantee you he won't be nearly as effective. He's going to get surgery eitherway at the end of the season, and that will take 3 - 4 months just for the recovery period alone.

It really depends on how severe his injury it - they say it's a partial tear but is there damage to adjacent ligaments (ulnar collateral ligament)? Mind you, triceps tendon ruptures are pretty rare to begin with. Surgery is typically recommended as soon as the injury occurs, so the fact that Justin Smith is prolonging his procedure either tells me his injury isn't that serious or he's jeopardizing his productivity long term.

I thought the injury was that the triceps had torn a bone spur from the arm, not a torn triceps tendon in the sense of the tendon actually tearing.

Is there a significant difference in those injuries?
