Just how bad are the Steelers?

I watched their game yesterday (unfortunately) and a few things stuck out.

Big Ben has lost a step and doesn't seem to have the will and determination that he once had.
The Steelers run defense is suspect, to say the least, and I thought that was suppose to be their strong suit.
The running game is a hodge podge of so-so RB's and the O-line isn't doing anyone any favors.

I guess we can just chalk it up as a bad year, but I see them going downhill fast.

I've seen every game, LY and so far TY.

Here are my thoughts.

Ben...he's playing like he always has...hangs onto the 1st read longer than most top QBs, and extends the play whenever possible...so imo you could put him behind 5 probowlers and he's still going to get sacked more than most top QBs. The difference is the last 2 years he's been turning the ball over more.

OL...this franchise has had the absolute worst luck keeping an OL intact for the last 3 years...lost count of how many OL combinations they've had, but I've got to think they're approaching 50 now.

RB...I'm not sure what you could've learned about the running game vs OAK...but, "so so" is pretty much on point production wise...but the rookie Bell appears to be a keeper.

DEF...imo this begins and ends with the NT. Right now we are running a 3-4 DEF with 4-3 DL...Mclendon was not a bad player for spot duty, maybe a start here and there, but as a FT player, he's just not the guy.

Future...right now the DEF has Kesiel, Troy, Taylor and Clark still logging serious minutes. Look for Troy and Taylor to return next season. Steelers are short on 2 players imo...a legit NT, and another playmaker outside (preferably someone taller than 6') Not sure how they will do it, but we're heading towards a top 10 draft pick.

That in part is why we suck...the younger legs are not as good.

Back to back years at that...just when we think they're done and we gear up for a high draft pick, watch them go into NE and win...lol.

So far, they've been outscored 54-19 in the 1st quarter. Not a good formula for success.

The entire team is just a mess. The Oline is the biggest issue. The defense has it moments but age is obviously a factor. I think we Stiller fans just need to deal with a few years of sucking. I don't remember the last time the Stillers had a decent 1st round draft pick?
