He looks really foolish trying to argue that ann arbor didn't cheat when the school themselves have already admitted to cheating.
Exactly. The more Michigan fans I talk to, the more foolish they look. The common tactics include:

  • Everyone else is advance scouting, so its not really a rule
  • UM cheated, BUT it didn't impact the season at all...especially the playoffs
  • OSU sux and committed infractions 20 years ago, so UM should be able to bend the rules a little

That sums up the super-homer ann arbor fans perfectly.

And I am an SEC guy...LOL

What do you think of all this conference jumping? I'm not a fan of it.

As a lifelong BigTen fan it'll always be weird to me to have Oregon, USC, UCLA and Washington in the conference. Wonder how much money will be wasted on the nonrevenue sports, like when Rutgers flies across the country for a soccer game or something?

Hate it.

Texas and Oklahoma can go back to the crappy Big 12. Its non-sense.

Either scramble all schools up and go to professional like divisions in 2 jumbo conferences like: East, West, North, and South. Or, stop the conference jumping.

Example:

National North
National South
National East
National West

American North
American South
American East
American West

Split all teams up and balance according to strengths in football, baseball, basketball, womens sports, etc

That's a good idea. Another idea, think it was bob Ryan's, keep this stupid conference jumping crap to football & basketball only. No other sports are revenue producers.

Sorry bud, the only one who lied is you. Maybe, just maybe you should actually go back and read the actual articles written during that time, and not the revisionist crap coming out of Columbus. Maybe, just maybe start with this.
Yet they got him for kids getting free tats and ignored all the other more severe allegations (lies) you mention?

Illegal? Care to prove it? Your feelings don’t matter. The rules do not prevent anyone outside of the University Athletics Department from doing anything. A Professor at the University can go and record the game and not break the rules. Just because the spirit of the rule is broken, doesn’t mean the rule is.
So it's legal yet guys keep getting suspended for doing it and even leave before more severe penalties come down?

We can look at non-conference schedules over the past bit:

2024:
Mich: #4 Texas, Fresno, Ark St.
OSU: Akron, West Mich, Marshall

2023
Mich: East Carolina, Nev-LV, Bowling Green
OSU: #14 Notre Dame, Youngstown St, West KY

2022
Mich: CO St., Hawaii, UConn
OSU: #18 Notre Dame, Ark St., Toledo

2021:
Mich: West Mich, Washington, N. Illinois
OSU: #22 Oregon, Tulsa, Akron

2019:
Mich: #12 Notre Dame, Mid Tenn St. Army
OSU: #21 Cincinnati, FL Atlantic, Miami (OH)

2018:
Mich:#5 Notre Dame, West Mich, SMU
OSU: OR St., TX Christian, Tulane

2017:
Mich: Florida, Cincinnati, Air Force
OSU: #3 Oklahoma, Army, Nev-LV

2016:
Mich: #17 Colorado, Hawaii, UCF
OSU: #5 Oklahoma, BGSU, Tulsa

2015:
Mich: #17 Utah, OR St., Nev-LV, BYU
OSU: Virginia Tech, Hawaii, N. Illinois, West Mich

2014
Mich: #21 Utah, #25 Notre Dame, App St, Miami (OH)
OSU: Navy, Virginia Tech, Kent St, Cincy

2013:
Mich: #20 Notre Dame, Central Mich, Akron, UConn
OSU: Buffalo, SDSU, California, FL A&M

2012:
Mich: #1 Alabama, #4 Notre Dame, Air Force, UMass
OSU: Miami (OH), UCF, California, UAB

It looks like you could make a case that Michigan has faced tougher non-conference talent.
If you want to have at it....but not like I said OSU was THE best said among and off top of my head only one BETTER might be USC. Seems you aren't even saying I'm wrong and even tried to ridicule OSU OOC which was bananas.

FYI, when they scheduled Va Tech and TCU they were among the top programs. Cannot really fault OSU for them falling off map. In addition, scheduled a tough Washington team at time for 2024 but they fell off map by game time AND joined conference so couldn't be an OOC game.

So what does Tressell have to do with Harbaugh, Stallions, and Weiss?

If OSU cheated to win a NC, then it should be vacated or should have been vacated. Did they?

So your thesis is that OSU had a scandal under Tressel over 15 years ago and that absolves Michigan of what occured in 2022-2023?
worse is he thinks these things happened and could be proven but they ignored these allegations and went after OSU pretty harshly over free tattoos?

Then prove it. There is zero denial on my side. There will be a massive fine, I would not be surprised if it is a minimum of a years worth of media payments, if not upwards of 3. There is going to be a 4-5 year show cause for Jim, and Connor, there has already been a 1 and 2 year show cause for Minter and Clink. And I expect up to a year for Moore.

The ones in denial are the ohio fan boys who have not taken the time to read through the legal settlements over the past 20 years between athletes and the NCAA, you have definitely not taken the time to actually read the NCAA bylaws, and instead you probably rely on getting your information from Buckeye Scoop.

11.6.1 is the in-person scouting rule said to be broken. "Off-campus, in-person scouting of future opponents (in the same season) is prohibited”

Maybe you should actually read the bylaws, you should start with what Connor did which is on page 46, then jump over to bylaw 19 on 374.

At the end of the day, as any Michigan fan or Alumni will tell you, no one is more important than The Team. Those that thought they were above the rules, above The Team will be punished, and they should be.

massive fine and multiple show causes but did nothing wrong?

Hell, I'm not even saying title or games need to be vacated but to hide your head in the sand as though not a worthy punishment? OSU was stripped of wins AND had a year of probation because players got some free tattoos.

As I have said a million times...I am not an OSU fan or a Big 10 fan.

Yes, the NCAA did restore those wins, but the damage was already done. I believe the NCAA caved personally. Penn St. should have gotten the Death Penalty.

I am actually in the majority.
Curious which team you are a fan of?

I can PM you the team but I don't want it to become a red herring for these 2 UM fans.

As soon as I say the team, the discussion changes to SEC cheating with attacks on my team. I want to avoid that.

Lost to Toledo and Appy St. of course so guess those were tough :noidea:
13-10… to a 3rd string walk on QB and missing our best offensive and defensive players…

I think I have the upper hand on this exchange.

OSU isn’t special in their schedules, and Michigan routinely has a tougher schedule than OSU over the past 15 years.

routinely tougher? Occasionally, sure. You are also forgetting OSU scheduled top 5 teams like Va Tech and TCU who fell off map and Washington who fell off map AND joined our conference.

I'd say in last decade OSU better in half, UM in other half. After next season it goes to 6-4 when we play TX and UM plays OK.

But an FYI, not everything an OSU-UM thing for me.

Most Years in the past Decade Plus Michigan has had a tougher schedule than OSU on paper as far as facing seeded teams. I'll put in bold the tougher schedule each year:

2024:
Michigan: #1 Oregon, #3 Texas, #6 OSU, #8 Indiana #11 Alabama
OSU: #1 Oregon, #4 PSU, #8 Indiana

2023
Michigan: #7 OSU, #10 PSU, #17 Iowa
OSU: #1 Michigan, #10 PSU, #16 Notre Dame

2022
Michigan: #4 OSU, #11 PSU
OSU: #2 Mich, #11 PSU, #21 Notre Dame

2021:
Michigan: #6 OSU, #10 Mich St. #15 Iowa
OSU: #2 Michigan, #10 Mich St. #14 Oregon,

2019:
Michigan: #2 OSU, #8 Wisconsin, #9 Florida, #10 PSU, #15 Notre Dame #16 Iowa
OSU: #8 Wisconsin, #10 PSU, #14 Michigan

2018:
Michigan: #3 Notre Dame, #6 OSU, #12 PSU, #22 Northwestern,
OSU: #3 Notre Dame, #7 Michigan, #12 PSU, #22 Northwestern

2017:
Michigan: #5 OSU, #6 Wisconsin, #9 PSU,
OSU: #2 Oklahoma, #9 PSU, #16 Mich St

2016:
Michigan: #3 OSU, #5 PSU, #8 Wisc, #10 Colorado,
OSU: #5 PSU, #7 Oklahoma, #8 Wisc,

2015:
Michigan: #3 Mich St, #7 OSU, #13 Northwestern, #22 Utah
OSU: #3 Mich St. #14 Michigan

2014:
Michigan: #4 OSU, #8 Mich St, #25 Minnesota
OSU: #8 Michigan St. #18 Wisc, #25 Minnesota

2013:
Michigan: #2 OSU, #10 MSU
OSU: #10 MSU, #21 Wisc

2012
Michigan: #1 Notre Dame, #2 Alabama, #3 OSU #21 NW, Minn, #23 Nebraska
OSU: #19 Michigan, #23 Nebraska

IT was always frustrating watching OSU dominate the conference in the 2010's and they barely had to beat anybody some years, at least from a Michigan perspective.
