Also interesting - the Canucks traded him in 1998 for Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan McCabe, and Jarkko Ruutu. Then they traded back for him three years later with the Isles for Boyd Gordon and Zack Stortini. Big friggin' edge = Canucks.

it gets better:
McCabe was traded for the pick to be able to get both Sedins.
Bertuzzi was traded to get Luongo.

Holy shit! That's what I call asset management. Now you just have to trade the Sedins to Boston for Marc Savard and Michael Ryder. The coup de grace!

Don't you mean Andy Elmore? (as there is no 'D' in his game)

Kind of off topic, but didn't Ehrhoff get close to a hatty last year? I seem to recall he had a 2 goal game, and a few chances at a 3rd. Maybe I'm wrong?

November 20th. 5-2 win over the Avs. Thanks, guys.:p

quick google-fu:

M Schneider (2)
Kaberle
MacInnis
P Boucher
D Babych
J Corvo
etc....

guess I haven't been paying THAT close attention :)

Although I knew there had to have been several since, the last one I specifically remembered was Eric Desjardins in the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals. He scored all 3 of Montreal's goals in the game of the infamous Marty McSorley illegal stick incident.

I'd say Trevor Linden meant as much to the Canucks as Bernie Federko did to the Blues...Not a great argument I realize, but if Bernie Federko is in the Hall, there should be room for Linden.

2 wrongs dont make a right dash ... loved him for what he did for the canucks but the hall ... no ... just no

as for dave babych first this that comes to my mind is hairshirt

Maybe Trev will go the 'Dick Duff' route and get in 20 years down the road via a veterans committee vote. As I mentioned before, I'm biased, but I also go by the rule that if there's a bunch of debate about a player going in to the Hall, then the player probably shouldn't be there. Hall of Fame inductions by and large should be slam-dunks.

I agree with this. objectively, for his on-ice product, Linden doesn't get a sniff.
For community involvement, importance to a team, NHLPA leadership*, it's a more interesting discussion.
But if you go down that road, you get to people like Mike Keane pretty quickly.

* some may count that as a black mark
