He's bi-polar, statistically, for sure. VMart has to be in the conversation too.

I think it's either Mo, John Lackey or Scott Kazmir

He has always been up and down, that's not a real comeback, that just being Ervin Santana.

I think that Santana was probably more consistently good this year than he has ever been.

I also think that Jubaldo Jiminez might be a better CBPOY candidate than either Lackey or Santana.

Ubaldo is a real good one, just thought of that - between him and Kazmir, the Indians could share the co-comeback players of the year in the AL

I'd put Lackey below Kazmir. Kazmir below VMArt. And VMart below The Greatest Closer in the History of the Universe. JL's been tremendous in October though.

I personally think as long as he uses the present pitch composition ( less fastballs and more sliders to make it short) then he can be more consistent and can still reach back and throw fastballs for pre 2012 velocities as he did this year, if not, he will be the gas can that gives up the most homers in the league, but that opens up a far different debate I would rather not engage in this thread at the moment.

Bottom line: NO way is Santana a true comeback player of the year.

I would pick Kazmir as he was left for dead by most fans and probably organizations period... let alone being a solid SP on a playoff team.

Ubaldo was pretty awful last year. Guess it comes down to whats better: coming back from a lost season due to injury? Or, a terrible season due to getting lit up like a Christmas Tree?

Yeah, crazy he's been around for a decade and wont be 30 till January. Also crazy he's never won more than 13 games. And has a career ERA over 4. (I knew none if this without Baseball Reference, absolutely none of it)

I remember thinking, "Scott Kazmir!?! He still pitches?" The first time his name scrolled across the bottom of the screen as a starter in the Cactus League. I expected DiceK to do more for Cleveland, and that expectation was very little.

I was like thinking to myself " Fuck yes, we are going to light this guy up like a Christmas tree, now all Guthrie needs to do is not suck"

Kazmir has a QS...

Me: :wtf:

Should Kazmir give me hope that Jeremy Bonderman will solidify Detroits middle relief next year? (Barring another retirement)
