Doesn't anyone ever learn not to poke a sleeping gorilla with a sharp stick??

Chris Ivory has 312 rushing yards the past two games against the defensive stalwarts Miami and Washington. He talking about running for the same against the Patriots run defense. Hey Chris, you're playing on a team that hasn't won as many games in the past three seasons that the Patriots won in 2014. You guys are off to a 4-1 start against Cleveland, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Miami and Washington, not exactly the tin of the NFL let alone the iron of the league.

This is the feature game of the week. CBS is carrying it but Nance and Simms are not doing the game, Dan Fouts and Ian Eagle will be doing the game. Something strange going on here...NBC and ESPN have both been trying to get this game flexed to their Sunday night or Monday night programming but the Patriots have a Thursday night game against Miami and have said absolutely NOT.

This should be a great game. I believe the Pats will still put up some points regardless of the stingy New Jersey defense. Pats 33 Jests 20.

I'm kinda sick of watching Blount and wish we'd pick up another bruiser back.

For the math challenged......................

Tom Brady is averaging 340 yards passing and 3 TDs per game in 2015.
Take that over 16 games...and that gives him about 5450 yards passing and 48 TDs.......but.......
the Patriots are not playing the iron of the NFL and after the Jets, they don't really have a defense to play against until week 11 against the Broncos. This could be the year that TB shatters all of the NFL records and he's 38 years old.

If that held.....the best stat would be only 3 INTs.

From Mike Reiss

While the primary news from Patriots practice was WR Brandon LaFell (left foot) practicing for the first time after opening the year on PUP, and special teams captain Matthew Slater also practicing after injuring his knee Sunday night, here are a few more practice nuggets: Starting center Bryan Stork (short-term IR/concussion) practiced for the first time, while OT Marcus Cannon (toe), DE Jabaal Sheard (ankle), G Shaq Mason and DE Rufus Johnson weren't spotted.

I personally don't really give a crap about Brady's stats. I'd much rather see the running game get going and perfected so when the playoff's roll around we can actually sport a well-rounded offense and kill the clock when needed. Ya, Lewis has been great but Blount doesn't scare anybody and most of his yards have come from a few explosive plays. I'm tired of seeing him get stuffed when it matters. Brady is already a legend. Let's get the running game worked out.

Flexible Scheduling
Allows teams to play their way onto the Sunday night schedule

In 2006 the NFL implemented a primetime "flexible scheduling" element on Sundays in Weeks 10-15 and in Week 17. In 2014 that was extended so that games between Weeks 5 and 17 could be affected by flex scheduling. However, only two games may be flexed into Sunday Night between Week 5 and 10.

Flexible scheduling ensured quality matchups on Sunday night in those weeks and gave surprise teams a chance to play their way onto primetime. The NBC Sunday night time slot for "flex" weeks lists the game tentatively scheduled for Sunday night.

Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game will be moved to an afternoon start time. Flexible scheduling will not be applied to games airing on Thursday, Saturday or Monday nights.

Just as the six major college football conferences have done for many years, the NFL has the flexibility to move the start times of games on Sundays, using a 12-day notice format.

For example, a game scheduled for a Sunday could move from a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff to an 8:15 p.m. start, but the change would be made and announced no later than the prior Tuesday, 12 days prior. Sunday afternoon games, as in the past, can still be moved between 1:00 and 4:05 or 4:25 p.m. ET.

In Week 17, in order to ensure a Sunday night game with playoff implications, the decision to move the start time may be made on six days notice.

NFL Flexible Scheduling 101
  • Begins Sunday of Week 5
  • In effect during Weeks 5-17
  • Up to 2 games may be flexed into Sunday Night between Weeks 5-10
  • Only Sunday afternoon games are subject to being moved into the Sunday night window.
  • The game that has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday night during flex weeks will be listed at 8:15 p.m. ET.
  • The majority of games on Sundays will be listed at 1:00 p.m. ET during flex weeks except for games played in Pacific or Mountain Time zones which will be listed at 4:05 or 4:15 p.m. ET.
  • No impact on Thursday, Saturday or Monday night games.
  • The NFL will decide (after consultation with CBS, FOX, NBC) and announce as early as possible the game being played at 8:15 p.m. ET. The announcement will come no later than 12 days prior to the game. The NFL may also announce games moving to 4:05 p.m. ET and 4:25 p.m. ET.
  • Week 17 start time changes could be decided on 6 days notice to ensure a game with playoff implications.
  • The NBC Sunday night time slot in "flex" weeks will list the game that has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday night.
  • Fans and ticket holders must be aware that NFL games in flex weeks are subject to change 12 days in advance (6 days in Week 17) and should plan accordingly.
  • NFL schedules all games.
  • Teams will be informed as soon as they are no longer under consideration or eligible for a move to Sunday night.

This is going to be a test for sure. I think the Jets are the real deal this yr. Have to get protection for Brady. I am not as scared facing Revis and Cro as I was in the past. Going to be interesting to see who Revis lines up on. I think TE can have a big game. Lewis also. Gotta stop the run with the Jets and see if you can make Fitz throw some INT. Funny how good you can be when you change coaches.

Rumors this morning are that Revis will cover Edelman and Cromartie will shadow Gronk. I pray that they do this, please do this. Revis got torched covering Samuel in the Denver game. Samuel had 11 catches for 112 yards. Revis cannot cut hard. Trying to twist and cut with Edelman will kill Revis. Cromartie is big enough to cover Gronk, but he's never been a hitter and I can't see him intimidating Gronk at all. Even if they cover well, who's going to pick up Keshawwn? or Amendola? or Lewis out of the backfield?

According to the NFL stats, the Jets defensive line will have 1.7 seconds on average to get to Brady before he releases.

Watch for the quick screens.

On WEEI Mike Adams was talking about the Jets game and he was saying that the word out no is that Revis will cover Gronk. It really doesn't matter who covers who. They can't cover everyone and Brady will throw to the most open man.

Cannon is out. Shaq Mason (knee) is questionable and might not be ready to go, further testing the team's depth. Mason missed practices Wednesday and Thursday, and returned Friday (he was limited).

Lewis is also out today... Blount will be the power today. Brady will be trying to air it out from the first snap
