Esteemed Colleague
Decent signing. Not sure why it took all Winter, though.
I won’t miss him much. He was great in CF, no doubt. But he was maddening to watch at the plate. His bat would show up for a couple weeks and then disappear for months. He just was never able to put it all together. Not a good thing for the Sox.
That is true without a doubt but...........I won’t miss him much. He was great in CF, no doubt. But he was maddening to watch at the plate. His bat would show up for a couple weeks and then disappear for months. He just was never able to put it all together.
He was definitely HUGE during the 2018 postseason run. I’ll always appreciate him for that, but I’m happy to turn the page. That is true without a doubt but...........
He is my wife's favorite.
Not sure if I want to go home for a few days after she hears this.
Not sure how many others would have given more than $24m to a glove-first player who strikes out all the time? Maybe the Mets? There's gonna be a few teams kicking themselves over this one.
Brewers paying good money for outfield defense. He may have only gotten a minor league deal if his defense sucked. But I understand their reluctance to go beyond two years. His defense is still pretty good. He was on pace for 2.0 dWAR over a full season last year. But he turns 31 this season and outfielders' defensive efficiency tends to start dropping off on the wrong side of 30.Decent signing. Not sure why it took all Winter, though.
She can adopt the Brewers as her NL team for a year or two. That is true without a doubt but...........

I guess he’s the ORIGINAL JBJ!Jon bon jovi?
That’s a hell of an outfield D with JBJ in Center and Cain in left. His bat over the last 4 seasons was disappointing, especially after hitting so well in 2015-16 (.262/.345/.489, 118 OPS+) but you can live with a ~90 OPS+ when it comes with good CF defense. Not a star but a solid enough player, and losing him is just another blow to what was already a thin outfield. One of my favorite Sox players in a while, I'll miss him.
I do wonder where they play JBJ and Cain. I think Cain is/was the better defender, but he is coming off an injury and is older so he's probably headed to a corner spot.
