Jayden Daniels ~ ‘that’s our QB’

Two games were won with Mariota at QB. I don't think the team won just because of Jayden although he has been a great addition I am encouraged by his play this year and look forward to even better years ahead..

A backup QB can be good, for a game or 2. Put Marcus Mariotta as the starter for 17 games and do you really believe they would have close to the same record?

The games were Carolina before Bryce was better than trash and the Panthers were improving and the Cowboys without Dak and CD.

Jayden got hurt very early against Carolina ..... Jayden was not good in that last game. It doesn't change the fact that Mariota played well. He beat the crap out of a bad team much like Daniels did early and he very likely helped save the win against Dallas. I am not proprosing Mariota take over or is better. I am saying he has more experience but I fully expect Daniels will have more of that with time.

No. JD5 is the reason why we have the wins that we have. MM won 2 games for us. but I doubt he would have won the other 10.

You should oppose all of this because it was always a horrible argument. Sure you CAN win a ring with Trent Dilfer, but how many times has it happened when compared to teams with a great QB? What the people who made this argument refused to acknowlege is Flacco, Ryp etc PLAYED like top QBs in those championship seasons. Once they reverted so did the team.

The best way by far to turn a team around and build a team that is a contender year after year is to have a top QB. The evidence is just so clear, especially today with the way the game is played.

We are not disagreeing at all, there just too much evidence to support what can be done with a top flight QB.
The one caveat that I have is how often an organization (including coaches) ruin these young guys.

you can win with an avg qb if you put good teams around them . jared goff wouldnt win 12 games with this roster nor would sam darnold or ljalen hurtz

Oh I know, I wasn't debating with you. But it amazed me how many times I needed to debate this, both here and on other boardsm when there is just so much evidence.

Finally we have one of those guys and that is the biggest reason for optimism. .

Jayden was not good in the first half against Dallas the first time around either.

Oh no. I won't mention names but they were dug in that you don't need a franchise QB for lasting success, just get a great roster and any decent QB is enough to win a title as they referenced Ryp, Difer, Flacco etc. They ignored my points about Ryp and Flacco paying like franchise QBs in the year they won a ring and how Dilfer was a one off and required one of the greatest defenses in the history of the game.

We debated this endlessly for years and it was baffling to me.

Is anyone prepared to argue that we would be 12-5 and heading to the playoffs if we did not have Jayden Daniels? And to think we debated for years the need for a top QB. The argument that you can win the Super Bowl with an average game manager provided you have a good enough roster is simply not based on the evidence. The QB makes all the difference in the world and if you don't have a top QB you are working with a huge disadvantage.

One could argue you can win a SB with a mediocre QB and there is evidence to this.
