I'm not thrilled with the return. Chiasson is a decent player who should get better and become a good second line winger. Should have been a first rounder coming back so I don't like the pick very much.

I'm kinda shocked that Spezza returned less than Kesler. Spezza is the better player so Dallas made out well.

What I like about this is that Zibanejad and Pageau should get more minutes now. Hopefully. These guys are non-stop competitors. I think that the loss of Spezza's points can be made up for by the two-way game of these guys. Ottawa's top six just got more Boston-like: less scoring and more defense.

Spezza, as 2nd line centre, could be huge for you guys. The big caveat is his health. His back and groin act up all the time. He'll play through it but he'll be almost a liability while he does. When he's 100% he's a legit #1 centre though.

That is the risk... and worth it. I get the sense he will be playing for his next contract unless I'm reading the tea leaves wrong down here. That only benefits my heroes.


What I'm most happy about - Nill was able to keep the core of the young defensemen in Cedar Park intact. Blue line is where we need the most help... and where you should see movement up to Dallas.
