Caller calls 911: "Hello 911, I want to report my neighbor is lighting off fireworks".

911 Dispacthcer: No Shit Lady, your neighbor. their neighbor, and my neighbor are all doing this. Hell the Police Chief is lighting them too.

911 Dispatcher hangs up, and steps outside to watch the fireworks.

Same thing with us a few years ago. The police don't have the time or resources to arrest every person with fire works. The police will set up check points heading to Las Vegas from the Indian reservation starting a few weeks prior.

I've seen fires started and people injured and alcohol wasn't involved. I say leave it to the professionals unless you live in a flooded state like Texas.

Most of you are correct in that most fireworks accidents occur because the people lighting them off have been drinking pretty much all day prior to setting up the works. These same guys put a 20 shot load on a driveway or a rock and the back pressure starts them moving and falling. Then they try to grab the small platform to set it back and end up catching a round.

Smart guy sets up his entire display before he starts drinking and makes sure his works are secured to a table or a
a frame that is solidly constructed. If he's really smart he buys fuses that connect display to display and he only has to light one fuse.

Hey I'm all for having fun on the 4th but when it's 12:30am on July 5th and idiots are still lighting fireworks they should only be so lucky that only the cops get called on them.
