not really impressed with those results relative to the extreme hype.

Seeing as you think 95% of MLB's players suck or are overrated, your opinion is pretty worthless.

nah, i just call out the ones that ARE overrated.

Jason Heyward was hyped to be a once in a generation talent and has fell right on his face in that regard.

irrefutable reality.

the most overrated player i've ever seen.

guy was hyped up beyond belief and his calling card was 'bases on balls'.

what a fraud he has turned out to be.

Atlanta = out of their minds for believing this guy was some 'can't miss' superstar.

he's overrated garbage.

Like the Rangers when they thought Chris Davis was trash and got rid of him....lol....sure you called that one too...feel free to have Heyward sent to the Royals...I would love a 24 yr old still with upside to come over. And seeing whats in the Tigers outfield...they would kill for him at any 3 of the OF spots.

Of course you would. He has a "D" on his hat.

Unlike Boesch, at least Dirks has a place in the majors. Too bad he's nothing more than a 4th OF.

say what you want about Boesch, but when given a chance he is a proven solid player.

the Tigers should welcome him back with open arms and give him an apology for tossing him aside the way they did, after he performed admirably.

Yeah, but Davis wasn't 24 either...we kept him all the way until he ran out of his controllable years. He was 28 and was just in desperate need of a change of scenery. I really do not feel he ever would have had the season he did in Baltimore while in Texas.

He was 25 when the Rangers traded him.

Regardless, I don't think anyone would've predicted he'd turn into the player he is right now.

Nope. Thought his power would keep him in the majors, but I thought 2012 (when he batted .270/.321/.501, 121 OPS+) was pretty much his ceiling. He still struck out a lot, but he also had (by far) the highest walk rate of his career. It was 10.7% this year. His career BB% is 7.7%.

He actually had a much higher career BABIP than I thought he would. It was .336 in 2013... his career BABIP is .335.

Yep, his 2008 season (although half a year) seemed pretty similar to his 2012, so I could see how that could've been perceived to be his ceiling.

Another interesting tidbit is that the Rangers traded Davis to the O's for Uehara, who pitched just 54 innings for them before leaving.

Rangers lost big time on that since they're left with neither...

Davis and Smoak both were pretty hyped though, reminded me of Dallas McPerson, Wood and someone else from the Angels minor leagues that were all, "can't miss" players.
