It'll be Gabbert on Sunday against Atlanta. Should be interesting.

No question about it. Brady's quick release, excellent pre-snap reads and pocket presence easily makes the current 49ers a competitive team.

Yes, it will be.

Not expecting a lot from Gabbert, but it'll keep the REST of the team playing hard. It'll keep other player minds, in the game.

Gabbert at least knows how to get the ball out quickly and, as you said, I bet the rest of the guys play hard Sunday.

I'm not convinced that Gabbert is the answer. In fact, I'm pretty sure he isn't. But at least we made progress.

I'll take a mystery box over a steaming pile of shit any day.

Gabbert has never been, nor ever will be the answer. It only makes it more interesting because it IS change.

“I see it as a continuing downward spiral,” Dungy told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday. “Maybe it helps and stirs things up in the short run, but I don't see how it is really going to improve them.”

It certainly won’t help Kaepernick, Dungy said, because a midseason benching is a clear message from the coaching staff and front office that they’ve lost confidence in their quarterback. Once that’s gone, it’s nearly impossible to regain it.

But Dungy doesn’t think this is the end for Kaepernick, but if he’s going to start again, it will have to happen elsewhere, and for different coaches.

“I think the guy is good, and someone that has been to championship games and has looked so good and did some things so well early on his career, I just don't see how it falls off that quickly,” Dungy said. “I don't think it's talent, I don't think it's ability. I think he can be a starter again, and I think he'll get with someone that gets it back out of him.”

You don't think we have had enough change this year?

The point isn't the amount of change...it's that going forward in this season, I pretty much know what to expect with Kaepernick at QB. I'm sure not much will change with Gabbert, but from simply a viewership standard, it's a welcome change.

A similar situation with the O-line. They might as well put in guys like Trent Brown and Brandon Thomas and see what they can do. Who cares if they suck....maybe they show signs of improving during the season, which is something we are not seeing from guys like Pears and Devey. At least there could be hope with those guys, as opposed to the quarterback position.

Gabbert > Kaepernick. And it's not even close.

Notice how Gabbert was able to run out the clock?

Gabbert to put it simply just looked more confident on the field than Kaep has since the Arizona game. He was quick to the pull trigger and stood tall in the pocket. He had way better footwork as well.

And yet some people still think that Kaepernick is better than Gabbert. :L

Losses are still losses. Doesn't matter if it's by 1 or 40. I'd rather take blowouts now so we can get a real coaching staff then give our shitty front office justification to keep our staff and GM in place by pointing our that "hey we were competitive".

Having a retard behind center and the league's worst offense in years gave me very little hope toward the future. Being a competitive team gives me signs of hope toward the future, even if they are still losses.

I'd rather have a team that's at least somewhat competent compared to what was the laughing stock of the NFL offenses with Kaepernick at quarterback. But that's just my opinion.

Agreed. Confidence is the difference.
