I don't think Gabbert is a long-term solution, but he can't be worse than what we saw from Kaepernick today.

It is possible. Gabbert has played some stinkers in his career. When the offense as a whole plays as poorly as it did, I can see it happening.
Think about that though, Did the offense play badly other than Kaepernick? The cause of the poor offense was him. Hyde played fairly well, the O line was not good but no one else on the offense had a chance to play well because kaepernick was so bad. He didn't just not get in the way like he did against Minnesota, he destroyed the team single-handedly today. Tell me, what could anyone else done with kaepernick so completley inept?

Let Gabbert play and see what happens. If Gabbert plays well against a defense like Seattle coming up, let em play
That might just happen because if you put Kaepernick in against a team like Seattle, what little confidence he might have left will be completely destroyed

Nor do I, but as you said, he can't be any worse. Who knows, the team might rally around him.

At this point, we know exactly what we have in Kaepernick. Gabbert still has some mystery to him.

Would you rather have a steaming pile of shit that you know to be a steaming pile of shit, or a mystery box? I'll take the mystery box. Even if the mystery box ends up being a steaming pile of shit, you still end up winning because it's cheaper than what you would be paying for the steaming pile of shit.

Yea, the oline played horrible again. On the interception he was hit within throwing the ball. Couldn't step up on another one because of someone in his face. The other couple of pics were awful and on Kap. Hyde had some good runs but he was stuffed behind the line on other runs because the line got pushed back. On the safety, Pears got pushed back five yards on a freakin running play. Kap played awful today, but other than Minn, the oline has been consistently awful on pass blocking all season.

I'd say the O Line was mediocre. Kaepernick was horrible. Once he put them in that 14 point hole the O Line's job became very difficult.

Being 14 points down against AZ is tough. But the oline was awful again. Devey and Pears were awful. The right side of the line is a mess. Pears is one of the worst tackles in the league. The team doesn't have a lot of options right now but they might not have a choice but to start some of the rookie lineman, Martin has struggled at center. Might want to give Eaton a shot.

After the 4th interception would have been a pretty good time. The game was already out of reach.

I'm pretty sure the coaching staff will be paying close attention to Gabbert during practices this season.

Agreed. They can no longer deny the fact that kaepernick doesn't get it. Its understandable that they don't want to give up yet because its got to be mystifying to them as to why he keeps getting worse rather than better the more experience he gets.

Aside from other obvious issues on the team and just focusing on Kap's play, he is still the same with little to no improvement. One more game should prove that. Should the 9ers move on without him? IMO no. Let him play out the year and see what we might get in trade value. Gabbert is not the future QB the 9ers should be looking for.

After yesterday and after hearing Tomsula speak after the game I want him fired. We know Kap is your QB but the right thing to do was to put Gabbet in the game in that 2nd half and 100% after the 4th Int.

Lets be honest here this is the worst Oline in football and No QB would do well. So I don't blame all on Kap. Kap does some things well and some not so much. Im ok to move on from him after this year. If we cut him this team will have around 60 mill to spend. We are around 40-45 mill now.

Trade Idea: Kap for Cutler. Both QBs need to move on. This way we can draft a QB and Cutler can keep the seat warm for the Rookie until he is ready.

I don't know about all that but I'll tell you this much; if, after seeing what they saw from Kaepernick yesterday, the 49ers are not at least thinking about replacing him with Gabbert, then Gabbert must be really, really bad.

If Goff? is really a 1st pick 1st round type QB who unlike Alex Smith is a blue chip QB prospect and those are close to 50/50 being top QB's not those QB's like A. Smith who are lesser rated high QB picks...I would be in favor of tanking the season for a Blue Chip QB. Now I don't know that there are any Blue chip QB's ready for the draft this year, so unless there is I would stay with K(r)ap for now and look to build a very goo O-line in the future although i am not convinced that is Balke's forte.

I don't watch college ball and really couldn't say anything about Goff one way or another. Heck, even the so-called experts in the NFL misjudge QB talent. Look at Rodgers/Asmith as an example. From what I've read, Goff looks to be the best QB prospect in the draft and could be gone by the top 5. Not sure we will make it down to that level but who knows. Goff grew up in the Bay Area a 49er fan and wears no. 16 because of Joe Montana. That would make a cool story

My childhood friends that still live up in the Bay Area are claiming Goff pretty hard...I haven't seen him in action at all, but they seem pretty sold on the kid. Aaron Rodgers do over?? Hahaa...honestly I'm not sold that any QB can do a whole lot with our line at present. We have half a line at present...this is not good and nobody saw it coming from last season to this besides Iupati. The off season storyline is holding a lot of water at present...that said, our schedule is murderous out of the gates and we are young all over. We were all hopeful after the Vikings game, and came crashing down to earth the last two...I think we're in some trouble next Sunday as well.

Im not talking about replacing Kap as the starter. Im talking about that game. Its common sense. 95% of coaches would of made that move.

Its not like A Smith sucks. the guy has more wins then most in this league so overall it wasn't a bad pick. Yes Rogers is the better player but its not like we bombed that pick.

I with most that I don't know if any of these QBs would be good in the NFL. I agree about building the Oline but to be honest we are really 1 player away from a good Oline if AD comes back. Kilgore will be at center and we just have to find another guard. We do have to find a replacement for Staley soon. he has maybe 2 good years left.

Wouldn't be surprised to start seeing some changes if this continues, starting on the oline. While there aren't many options, they may have no choice.

Yep, there aren't many options for the line. Changes are ok but we still can't expect miracles. Before someone lashes out at Baalke again, still think Baalke couldn't have known Anthony Davis was going to retire? So it is hard to blame him for that loss.
